Great family style food

A restaurant that has been around seems like forever serving family style food and reknown for the chicken Plenty of parking available. Excellent wait staff with the owner, Ron Torr, usually on premises. Wonderful deserts too. Overall, a great evening of dining out.

I had dinner there last night. The food was very good. Very large portions. They first brought out a lettuce wedge with vinegarette, pickled beets, and a bowl of cottage cheese. Then a bowl of onion soup. It was all good. The food is made to order, so it takes a bit for the entre to arrive. I ordered fried... More

Easter dinner at the Iron Skillet was delightful! We thoroughly enjoyed the pickled beets and crispy lettuce wedges with the tasty vinaigrette to start, and then the crispy, delicious fried chicken, seasoned green beans, corn, whipped potatoes, gravy, and hot biscuits with apple butter. The raspberry sorbet with pecans is a favorite of ours! Our Easter plans changed just a... More

Eight of us ate chicken dinner there on Feb. 15 and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The owners are excellent and friendly and the service is perfect. Their chicken is the best we ever had, similar to Zenders or Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, MI. Only difference is they don't have stuffing. You order your... More

This restaurant is fantastic. It has been around since the 1950's and still has that feel complete with table covers and cloth place mats. Each person orders their meat selection but then the rest of the meal is served family style and there is a LOT of it. There is enough food served at each meal that you will have... More

We have been dinning at the Iron Skillet for over 40 years. We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner at the IS in 1974 with the previous owners. Yes, there are many memories at this establishment of family members who are no longer with us. However, I differ with some reviewers on the food aspect, we know good food. In my... More

This place was probably the best southern restaurant that wasn't southern. Very friendly great atmosphere. Me and my weren't sure if we were allowed in, but everyone was friendly. The portions were crazy...One meal could feed you for the next two days. I was not expecting four courses with the meal let alone a mini ice cream bar at your... More

We had a welcome home party for a family member and she chose the Iron Skillet. The restaurant is set in a charming 19th century period home overlooking a wonderful golf course. Upon entering we were ushered to a perfectly set table for 11. Some preliminary food was already waiting like their fabulously simple lettuce salad, cottage cheese, and Harvard... More

The Iron Skillet is a regular stop for our group. Pan Fried chicken is excellent. Mashed potatoes and corn served home style. Owner is always present and the wait staff very friendly. We will return.
