Great Steak, but you have to order their signature Shrimp Cocktail. Beware though as it is loaded with horseradish and is great!! If you are headed to Indianapolis make reservations in advance as this restaurant is always busy. Eric was my most recent waiter and he took great care of my group.

Beautiful, old-guard steakhouse in downtown Indy. Had the world-famous shrimp cocktail (how can Indianapolis be famous for shrimp?) but it was seriously awesome--would put it up against anything with a view of the Gulf in a heartbeat. (Beware the cocktail sauce, though--delicious and sinus-clearing!). But the beef. OH the beef. Had a ribeye (special that night) that had been dry-aged... More

Maybe we expected too much, but it didn't live up to the hype. The service was outstanding, but the food was not. The shrimp cocktail was good, but not worthy of the high price. The steaks were overseasoned with pepper but cooked to perfection. The creme brûlée had very little flavor. Very expensive restaurant and the food quality should reflect... More

We had cocktails, appetizers, dinner and dessert. The famous shrimp cocktail was great and the sauce extremely hot, as we were pre-warned. Even though the restaurant was crowded, we were seated immediately and the service was great. The drinks were on the strong side and most enjoyable,. My son and daughter-in Law took my wife and I there to celebrate... More

Although I grew up in Indianapolis, I had never been to St. Elmo's until now. I no longer live in Indy and have been to many good steakhouses around the country, but I was still impressed with it--its reputation is founded. We all have heard that the food is great, which is true...but I was more impressed with how personable... More

The quality of the beef served here is excellent. The wine list is wonderful with some real low priced treasures waiting to be discovered. The famous shrimp cocktail is still great. We ordered a porterhouse steak ( one for two) ( a steakhouse trick with us that I want to share) The waiter brought out the steak and an extra... More

Several of us arrived in late afternoon for a meeting the next day. We were able to get into St. Elmo's around 7:00 PM on a week night. The food and service were excellent. We had four different main dishes at our table and everyone enjoyed their dish. Noise level is acceptable.

We were in Indianapolis for two nights and I before we ever left home, I made reservations here based on referrals and reputation alone. We walked over from our hotel and settled in for one of the best meals ever. The service was excellent and the shrimp cocktail was outstanding. Steaks were perfect and the whole evening was just perfect.

Wow! What a great restaurant. The service was fantastic, the food was spectacular. We went there on a Sunday, with our 2 kids. We started with their famous shrimp cocktail. Best we've ever had! The kids shared a filet mignon and fries. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was exactly the way we asked, pink on the inside. They... More
