No praise from our table of seven. Marginally good steak, and while their shrimp cocktail may be good, it really isn't worth $16 for 5 shrimp and some horseradish sauce. Waiter pushed the delicious double baked potato ($7.50 extra). Turned out to be dry and unappetizing. Had expected much more from other reviews...a big and pricey letdown.

This steakhouse is a fixture in downtown Indy. Reservations are preferred. It IS NOT cheap, but on the other hand, it is worth every cent. ddd They are known for their shrimp cocktail. (The best that I have ever eaten) Their steaks are fantastic. The service is impeccable. I cannot think of one bad thing to say. We go to... More

I stopped at St. Elmo Steak House after my conference ended to try their famous shrimp cocktail. It was better than I could have imagined! If you are a fan of horseradish, you HAVE TO try St. Elmo's shrimp cocktail. Hairs will stand up on your body in spots you didn't know you had hair....

St. Elmo's is the old man of Indy. Not only locals but celebrities are always coming there when they are in town. The shrimp cocktail is everyone's favorite. The Steaks are wonderful and the wait staff give you their friendly attention.

Always good. Along with the Capital Grille it's pretty much the only good steak house in Indy. Make sure to try the shrimp cocktail with the hottest cocktail sauce anywhere - it'll make your eyes water.

It's always fun to watch people try the shrimp cocktail sauce for the first time. We especially enjoyed the blueberry bread pudding.

Legendary steak house from the 1920's look's like big Al would have eaten here if it were in Chicago.

Went to Indianapolis for a Conference, I was told you have to eat t St Elmo’s and you have to get the Shrimp Cocktail. Since it was my wife and my anniversary, she went to the conference with me. I made reservations using OpenTable (connected from here at TripAdvisor). Told them it was our Anniversary. When we arrived (on time)... More
