Waiter was not what we were used to

We had a business dinner meeting last night with an out of town guest. We always go to Elmo's and usually have Bill S. as a waiter. He knows us all by name and remembers what we like to drink and most of the time what we want to order. We were in the wine room downstairs last night which... read more

I came here with a friend on my last night of a 10 day visit to Indy, having heard amazing things. I left thoroughly impressed. In a restaurant with people queening out the door, our table was ready on time and the service was very prompt and polite. We shared the shrimp cocktail to start with, with it branded as... More

A really great place for a steak if you are in downtown Indy! Just steps from monument circle and many of the nice hotels. It has a long history and they know how to serve steak. The wait staff was great throughout the night. The shrimp cocktail (only appetizer on the menu) is an experience...to say the least. If you... More

If you want a great steak in Indy, go to Ruth's Chris. St. Elmo's is good, but I don't believe that it lives up to all the hype. It is overpriced, much like all of the other downtown Indy steak houses, but I'm willing to pay the Ruth's Chris price based on quality/flavor, whereas I'm not for St. Elmo's unless... More

Ive eatten here probably five times over the last 10 years and had the same experience each time. Rude staff who dont care and want turn tables in conjunction with sub par food. For the prices they charge I will go to Sullivans, where at least I know the food is good and the wait staff bend over backwards to... More

We heard a lot about this restaurant. We were told that there is a dress code, so we made reservations at a place nearby. While walking past St Elmo's, I asked the valet if there was one... NOPE. He was very nice, asking if he can help us get a table, etc etc etc. Our service was over the top.... More

We never visit Indy without at least one meal at St. Elmo's! The steaks, the drinks, the shrimp cocktail & the service remind me why this restaurant has been in business since 1902! Great menu, always well staffed and great atmosphere!

Great restaurant. Excellent filet. Nice desserts. The infamous shrimp cocktail was a bit too spicy for me as it contained A LOT of horse radish. However, the filet was like butter and very tasty. I had the pregame fixe menu to keep the bill at $100 for two as it can easily reach $150 or more for two. But for... More

it is painful but addictive. Shrimp cocktail is only one reason to go- the other compelling reasons to keep going back to this place is for the filet like butter and the wonderful service!

St. Elmos has the best tender delicious steak ever. Best staff and ambiance you can get for an old steak house. Also I am so glad they sell the shrimp cocktail sauce now so I can purchase it and send it to family and friends. I now live in New York and Bermuda so I am able to take the... More
