St.Elmo's lived up to the hype that I had heard and read about. The service was outstanding and the food was great as well. The Shrimp Cocktail was delicious as a starter. Very extensive wine list. Overall - Great Place more

We had read about St. Elmo's and were expecting a top notch restaurant. It was. Our waiter was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable about wine, the menu items and history of downtown Indy. The salads were crisp and fresh. The onion rolls were to die for. My lamb chops were tasty and well prepared. I also enjoyed a bite of the... more

Excelent food with some killer shrimp cocktail sauce. Sat at bar after colts game and ate there because the place was packed. Very nice dinner . Yes pricey but we sure didnt leave hungry. Couldnt finish half my steak . Nobody is forcing you to eat here so i would recomend to anyone who can afford it. more

Overrated.

What is supposed to be an Indianapolis institution, is instead an overrated steakhouse with a great wine list. Food is OK. Place is very noise. You'd be better off at Ruth's Chris down the street. more

This place is great! The prices are very reasonable (for a steakhouse) and the interior reminds me of Gibson's in Chicago - dark wood, many black and white photos. Just be prepared for a possibly long wait if you don't reserve a week or two in advance! The wait for walk-ins was 2.5 hours on a WEDNESDAY NIGHT! I had... more

We were guests so didn't have to pay the premium prices. The smallest steak was the 8 oz. filet mignon which I ordered. It came with with either bean soup or tomato juice (yes, plain old tomato juice!) choice of potato and basket of rolls. Salad was ala carte. The famous shrimp cocktail which we shared was $14.99 for 5... more

We were there for a special celebration and knew we were going to spend a few dollars, but we all agreed our meals were worth the price. Our waiter was outstanding (he even brought us a sample of the cocktail sauce -- very tasty and WOW it's hot!) and the steaks were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! We'll definitely go back next time... more

We are from out of town and went there with out teenage daughter on a Monday night. Husband raved about the place. Well, he remembered the walleye, don't serve it any more and havent' for a while. He got the halibut (I believe) and said it was dry. He also raved about the spinach side dish, well it was good... more

This is a very nice steak house. I would go here for a special ocassion. The prices are pretty high so be prepared to open your wallet. The waiters are attentive and make sure you are attended to. I found the steak to be very good. I also enjoyed their "famous" shrimp cocktail. It does have a bite and you... more

St. Elmo's has a long history of fine dining, but the latest group of managers/employees seems to have taken their eye off the ball. I had the highly reccomended shrimp cocktail and a steak. Both were too expensive for what was offered. Maybe they will improve to get back to the service and quality of yesteryear... more
