It is now called Javiers Hacienda. It is great- came here with three friends and was here before when it was under different ownership .

So, my wife and I love Mexican and just recently moved to Indianapolis. This was our first date night out with kids at home with a sitter. As we were driving there, my wife was a little uneasy about the location and honestly in the back of my head I was half wondering if our car would be ok for... More

Not in the best neighborhood but well worth the trip. This is a family owned, real mexican (not tex-mex) restaurant. The service is incredible and the food is so, so good! We've gone here for special occasions often over the years and it is one of our favorite places

Good Mexican food at very good prices. I loved the fresh-made guacamole. We saw the waiter make it and it was perfect blend of heat and taste. Definitely getting that again. The chips and salsa are good. Portions are on the large size so come hungry or plan to take some home.

If you want to get past the typical tacos and burritos, El Sol's is the place to go. An Indy landmark since about 1974, do not let the somewhat plain exterior fool you, inside it is a fiesta. Try the Bistek Ranchero. I have been going here for over 20 years and have a hard time getting anything else.

I have been to this restaurant three times in the past two months, so that should show you how much I like the food. Be patient with the wait staff (what is my luck to have three rookies in three visits) because the food is worth it. I have also enjoyed the spicy shrimp and, because I must, the steak... More

Returning to Indianapolis after moving away, one of the places we were eager to visit was our old favorite, El Sol. The menu was greatly reduced from previous years, and did not include some of our old favorites. The queso fundido which we remembered so fondly, was undercooked, so the cheese was not even completely melted. Prices have increased quite... More

While visiting Indy was taken here for dinner by two friends who live in the area. This is their favorite restaurant and I can see why. Fabulous decor inside, awesome margaritas, delicious food, and decent prices. Downtown Indianapolis has lots of restaurants but so many chains-it was really nice to experience a unique dining spot while traveling.

Our motorcycle group decided to plan a winter dinner at El Sol and none of us were dissapointed. We all ordered something different but all agreed that the Guacamole was excellent, maybe the best I've ever had. The restaurant was clean and well decorated and the wait staff was excellent from start to finish. I had the Carne A La... More

My daughter and I had dinner here since I had gotten a certificate from restaurant.com for $25.00. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was the best Mexican food I had ever eaten. The restaurant had a cold feel to it and the piped in music was a distraction. My dinner was well prepared and hot on arrival. The... More
