We visited Mama Carolla's twice in the week we were in Indianapolis. We had tried once before a year ago but could not get in. It is a very busy restaurant, especially on weekends, and does not take reservations. Our children live just across the road from the restaurant so we could walk as well as judge how crowded it... Mama's is out all time favorite Italian restaurant. We get the same thing every time (lasagna and manicotti) because no where else compares. Its a quaint old house and no reservations on the weekend, but just get a glass of wine and hang out. The vinaigrette dressing is a bit sour for me but the creamy Italian us really good.... More

Who knew that this little Italian eatery would make you feel like you got on a plane and went to Europe? Before even getting our food, I had fallen in love with the ambiance. My friends and I chose to be seated outside. We all ordered wine and had plenty of fresh bread. For our entrees, I had the baked... More

DO go here for Italian food. Do NOT sit near the vintage fireplace in the front hall. Read below. Management can improve a lot here: In a home so lovingly preserved, it is a shame that a loud, drunk party of six was not seated in the bar OR outdoors. Both locations much better for the loud, expletive....4 letter word,... More

The atmosphere is charming and the service spot on. The flavor of the Roasted Rosemary Chicken is just right. The chicken is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. And you get a whole half of a chicken, I always have enough for a lunch the next day.

I read the history about this place and the food and atmosphere far acceded my expectations. I just moved to Indianapolis and Italian is my favorite type of food. I think I have already found my favorite Italian restaurant in my new city!!

First off expect to wait, this place is always busy. we arrived at 6:00 and waited 50 minutes- now the wait kind of flew by, we were outside at sitting tables in a tent with heaters. It was pretty comfortable considering the conditions outside and we did request to be seated in the Rose Room. I suggest you request this... More

We love this restaurant but expect to wait for a table unless you arrive when they open. The fish I had was the best I've ever eaten. Prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious.

Speaking as an Italian born and raised person. The mark of a good restaurant is 1. good food 2. Good service 3. Good athmosphere. We ordered three different dishes and all three were appalling and distasteful. Truly a sorry excuse for "Italian Food". You all are being lied to. If you can not even cook the pasta correctly or even... More

Everything was excellent! I would almost consider moving to Indy just to have access to this little gem! The building, decor, layout is adorable. It's very homey and intimate. The food was excellent. You can tell they put effort into making it. I had the Manicotti and it was by far the best I've ever had. They have their own... More
