My favorite Japanese restaurant in Indianapolis

My favorite time to visit Sakura is on a cold winter evening. It is warm and inviting and reminds me of places I visited in Tokyo...very authentic. I think the sushi is the best in town. I like the crispy roll which I don't think is listed on the menu. One of other favorite dishes is the... read more

Best sushi in town, authentic and the ambiance reminds me of a small sushi shack in Japan. Definitely try this and don't judge it by the outside or the neighborhood, trust me!

I've visited this restaurant many times and it has never ever been a disappointment. The food is always fresh, the service is decent, and the atmosphere is fine. It isn't the most upscale Japanese restaurant but it is certainly worth a try. Be sure to check the hours before heading out; they are closed between lunch and dinner.

We went in on a Friday night and thank goodness we had a reservation. We only had to wait about 10 minutes. It was completely packed. The outside was not much to look at and neither was the inside but the food was very good. We started out with Tempura and Edamame, which was very good. Then we had Shrimp... More

We were in town for a funeral and decided to go into Sakura to place our order because we hadn't seen the menu before. It was a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. They took our to go order quickly and served us sake while we waited. The food was prepared in a timely manner and we left.... More

Warm, friendly service. Delicious food served quickly. Had sushi and a bento box. We'll be back, and we recommend it highly.

I was not impressed by this sushi restaurant that my colleague suggested. It was average at best. The Edamame was mushy and had very little salt (and taste). The three sushi rolls I ordered were OK, but nothing great. The service was slow and a table next to use had to ask the waitress several times for different items (more... More

We were on Indianapolis on a weekend getaway and my wife asked me about a nice place to get some sushi... I got references for this place and I am glad to say that we were truly amazed by our visit today Go for the sushi options, specially the New York roll...

Sakura has really good food. Really, really good. And their service is really poor. They are just not hospitable, with the exception of a couple of servers. Get the wrong sour server? That's where the suffering comes in. Well, at least their food is really good.
