We believe the best neighborhood restaurants should be the place where you can enjoy fantastic food with eccentric beer, wine, and cocktail offerings. We opened on the East End of Massachusetts Avenue because our neighbors take food as seriously as we do, which makes it one of the most exciting food destinations in the city. We serve comfort foods with a modern update. Our obsession with age old pickling and preservation methods often makes appearances in our carefully crafted dishes. We believe that good food shouldn't be overly complex and the atmosphere reflects that attitude. We'll welcome you in jeans or a suit. Don't have time for a meal? That's okay with us. Come on in after work to unwind with a drink.

Friendly staff; great lunch

Enjoyed a late lunch at Black Market on a recent trip to Indy and was very impressed. I tried the egg salad appetizer (which would have been a meal in itself) followed by the lentil masala, which was delicious. There are also lots of brews for beer aficionados. I would definitely recommend Black... read more

I came here with colleagues from work for dinner. The service was very good and our server knew her specials and was able to describe the food quite well. We shared the pickles and peanut butter appetizer along with one other app. The pickles and PB was the highlight of the meal for me. For my main entree, I ordered... More

Black Market came highly recommended by a local foodie acquaintance of mine so I decided to give their lunch menu a shot. I was presently surprised by their entrée sized salad (11$) served with Bologna and Fingerling Potatoes. Every bite was exploding with flavor and it ended up being the highlight of my meal. Egg salad on toast (7$) was... More

Apple Brine Pork Chop was melt in your mouth! The bone marrow app was very good. Salted Carmel Brick was good but the cream cheese ice cream with it was the best!

If you are willing to spend $17.00 on a hamburger and like it cooked medium rare ( the only way it is prepared ) with delicate goat cheese, sauteed onions and a soft light bun that absorbs the flavors of the ingredients, then this is the place to have dinner. Without question this was the best hamburger I have ever... More

We have been going to Black Market since shortly after it opened and it is one of our favorite restaurants in the city! The menu is innovative and seasonal. Although the staples are great (the pork chop is always awesome and so is the pickle plate) I almost end up ordering the daily special because it sounds appealing. Their beer... More

Black Market is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. That may sound hyperbolic, but I have never had a bad meal at Black Market. I have never had a bad time at Black Market. I have never had a bad drink at Black Market, and I have never had bad service at Black Market. The cooking is innovative... More

This restaurant feels like a friendly European bar/restaurant. Our waiter was friendly, informative and fun. Food was great (we ordered a second of one of our appetizers). Save room for dessert!

Our mission when we travel to a new city is to find restaurants that offer locally sourced foods. We certainly found that here and MORE! Delicious, wholesome, well prepared and seasonal. Everything was fresh, served right out of the kitchen and portioned just enough. The white fish app shared and our entrees was plenty but we did opt for the... More
