Make a run to the Black Market

If you're looking to experience very fresh farm to table cuisine in a friendly environment, you need to make a run to the Black Market. It's tucked away at the north end of Mass Ave across from an old Coca Cola bottling plant. There are communal tables, but if you prefer, you can arrive early or... read more

I really enjoyed lunch here. The prices are a bit high. The burger is really good. The mushroom / asparagus / goat cheese sandwich was good but not great. Too much bread covers up the taste of the great insides. One of these days I want to eat here for dinner. Then, I can actually try a cocktail. Eating outside... More

One of the best meals I've ever had. Great cocktails (every choice was not merely good, but great), great beer selection, especially Belgian/Flemish. I found it a tad bit pricey, but the quality of the food was definitely worth it.

Went here with a friend for dinner and it was a great place. Had a cool ambiance and good service. One thing to know is that their menu could be viewed as a little adventurous to some (bone marrow, rabbit, tongue, heart etc) so just know beforehand and check out their menu to ensure you don't have issues if those... My fiancé and I went there for dinner. We got there early, they were still serving lunch. We waited for dinner and got the half chicken meal. It was enough for two people. I wish the chicken meal was served with a bit more vegetables or they should ask their customer if they wanted extra vegetables. Don't get me wrong,... More

We found Black Market in the trendy Mass Ave section of downtown Indianapolis. After a morning of shopping, the three of us stopped for lunch and enjoyed a wonderful meal in a delightful environment. It was just a bit after the lunch rush and we were immediately seated at a window booth. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu had... More

The entire menu is an experience. Unique meals and a great beer list!!!! Would come back again and would guess the menu would be an entirely different selection. Our server, Heather, was outstanding. Kudos to the chef!!!!

We showed up without reservations (they don't take reservations), were seated outside, with drinks, around the fire pit for maybe 20 minutes. Once seated at the end of a long shared table we enjoyed interesting and delicious salad, entree and dessert. I enjoyed the kale salad so much, I ordered another to go - for lunch the next day!

Last night we decided to try the Black Market with another couple after discussing other restaurant ideas on Mass Avenue. It did not disappoint. One of the cocktails was the best I've EVER had....something with bourbon, apple shrub, and maple syrup. FABULOUS. I ordered the pork chop with butternut risotto and cabbage and the preparation and flavor were the best... More

In an ordinary building near the highway on a curve of Mass Ave. sits this hidden gem of Indy. The bar, tables, and decor are appropriate for the theme, as at first you aren't sure if you've found the right spot . . . but once you walk in, and the aromas of tasty treats hit you, you know this...
