Different and fun

We've only been here once but the food was delicious! We shared potato skins - been a while since we had those. They were wonderful - crisp but full of potato and fixings. Then we each had a sandwich and shared onion rings. Literally these are 4 or 5 inches wide. But crunchy and just the... read more

MacNiven's was having a quiet night when we visited. The menu was fairly standard pub grub with a UK flavour. You could actually order haggis - one of our party did - it was a sort of Americanized version but fairly tasty. Burgers and fish & chips were good. All in all, OK on the food front. Where MacNiven's stood... More

We came in for drinks after arriving in Indianapolis late afternoon. Lots of locals were in enjoying the Indiana game. It was a relaxing atmosphere and the service was great!

Thankfully they are open on Sunday afternoon for lunch. This restaurant had a large food menu, full bar and an extensive list of craft beers. Although we only sampled the Scotch eggs and loaded potato skins. We were pleased with the preparation and flavor and look forward to a return visit. Perhaps stew on a cold winters day!

We stumbled across this place while exploring the Mass Ave district on our first trip to Indy. We have been to Scotland many times and are usually disappointed with restaurants here that purport to offer authentic Scottish cuisine. Not so at MacNiven's. I had the sausage rolls and my wife ordered the Scotch eggs, both at least as good as... More

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Sunday and the place was not busy at all. Ordered the Sausage Roll (1 is all you need) with onion rings instead of fries. The sausage tasted like butter - so good! And the onion rings were the best I've ever had. I would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

Scottish eggs are really good. Also has haggis on the menu plus other typical pub foods. Nice broad beer selection. Great alternative if/when Bakersfield is packed across the street. Sitting in window my favorite.

We stopped in here purely out of necessity as all of the other eateries were jam packed. MacNivens was still plenty busy, but there were a few tab;es open and we were starving. It turned out to be a happy accident. We both ordered the battered chicken sandwich with spicy aioli sauce. The portions were not disappointing. I think we... More

Excellent pub! Food and drinks so reminiscent of trips to Scotland and England! Where else can you get Pimms, haggis, and Scotch eggs in Indianapolis?!? The sausage rolls and steak pie were fantastic!
