Great Portions And Reasonable Prices

We stopped in here purely out of necessity as all of the other eateries were jam packed. MacNivens was still plenty busy, but there were a few tab;es open and we were starving. It turned out to be a happy accident. We both ordered the battered chicken sandwich with spicy aioli sauce. The... read more

Scottish eggs are really good. Also has haggis on the menu plus other typical pub foods. Nice broad beer selection. Great alternative if/when Bakersfield is packed across the street. Sitting in window my favorite.

Excellent pub! Food and drinks so reminiscent of trips to Scotland and England! Where else can you get Pimms, haggis, and Scotch eggs in Indianapolis?!? The sausage rolls and steak pie were fantastic!

I've been here a number of times and have always enjoyed it. I've been to pubs in Scotland and this is really a pale imitation, but it's the best we've got in Indy. And they DO offer haggis, which I highly recommend, especially accompanied by a good Scottish beer, which they also offer.

A colleague who frequently eats at MacNiven's invited me to have lunch there during the week. The waitress was very friendly and attentive; we even talked for a few minutes with the owner. I had the french dip sandwich with onion rings. What a treat! The sliced beef was seasoned to perfection and the onion rings were a special delicious... More

This bar and restaurant had a great list of craft beers from around the country and from Scotland. Famous for its hagis but avoided that. Food was good...not excellent although those giant onion rings were awesome. Service fine. Prices reasonable. Also, try the bread pudding (enough for 4 people, at least). Even though it used fake maple syrup, it was... More

This bar does them right! They go very well with the stoutest beer you can drink. The only problem is trying to get your beer and eggs to run out together!

Being a scoth drinker I was excited to sample this establishment on the up and coming Mass Avenue. I was not disappointed...had a good menu of single malts. There was also an excellent selection of craft beer of which we sampled quite a few. Our server was very pleasant...explaining the history of the bar and surrounding neighborhood. We only ate... So I have to admit, my brother and I stumbled upon MacNiven's by accident. We were supposed to eat at the Mexican place called Bakersfield across the street, but we forgot to make a reservation and decided that waiting an hour wasn't really in the cards. Walking into MacNiven's, we were able to sit at the bar right away and... More

Excellent choices for a pub - loved the onion rings and of course the beer! Very friendly atmosphere and quite inviting staff. I can see that this will easily become a regular place for me to visit!
