On a quick weekend trip to Indy, we decided to eat at Maxine's for lunch after reading some of the reviews on here. We weren't disappointed. Our service was excellent. Liz was our waitress, and she couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. My kids really enjoyed the complimentary little cornbread pancakes, and peach butter. I couldn't even get my... More

I used to love this place. Went there often, specifically for their sweet potato waffle, biscuits and gravy, and even those little corn cakes with peach butter they bring out before your meal. Went over the weekend. Sweet potato waffles are gone, they were out of biscuits and gravy and a few other items, and I watched all the tables... More

Decided to give this place a try. The interior is very sparse with concrete floors and not much decoration. The workers were efficient, but not over the top. Had to request cornbread, but it was amazing. The chicken wings were amazing and the waffles were light and fluffy. Would love to try some of the sides next time.

We visited Maxine's for the second time on New Year's Day. I was a bit nervous when we arrived. I told the hostess that I made a reservation (made the reservation at least 1 week in advance). She could not find my name anywhere... but brought be right to a table anyway. I was glad for that because there were... More

Landed here with out of town guests....since I am new to Indy, thought it would be fun. We arrived 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday evening, we could not have been welcomed more warmly! We were not rushed...as I am vegetarian, I was a bit concerned, would there be anything for me? Well I ordered the sides...collard greens, black... More

I stopped here when I was driving to the airport. The location was convenient and had plenty of parking. The staff was extremely friendly and the service was great. I enjoyed the fried chicken, it had just the right amount of seasoning and was not extremely greasy. I would eat here again for sure.

My wife and I have been here at least 10 times, nearly always taking friends or family. Without exception, everyone has agreed that this is a great place to eat. Friendly staff and homey environment. Food is more like home-cooked. Each table is served corn bread in small circles, with peach butter. That alone is worth going here for. My... More

There comes a time in life when you need to experience new restaurants you may have normally ignored, which is exactly why you must try Maxine's during your travels to Indi. It's an easy walk from many of the hotels and is located next to a gas station. This spot is now a tradition for breakfast every single time we... More

Maxine's reminds me of the food my grandmother used to make. It's tastes great and makes you feel good! Southern inspired dishes are your best bet. Wonderful meal and I love that it's connected to a gas station downtown.
