Can't go wrong with Maxine's waffles on a rainy day!

Yes, Maxine's is camouflaged by a gas station, but fear not! Great food served by attentive staff (many from the same family) is always on the menu. The sweet potato waffle with peach butter was delicious as was the chicken tenders! My second time there, but I've yet to pump gas. Maxine's is warm... read more

My friend wanted to try Maxine's for her birthday dinner. None of us had been before so we all thought it sounded like a good idea. We arrived at around 6 PM on a Saturday. It wasn't very busy at all, which was nice. The place would be hard to recognize if you don't already know where it is. The... More

My husband had chicken wings and waffles and i had salmon croquettes. Food was excellent and service was great. We were attended to without anyone hovering over us, which i HATE. I'd recommend to anyone wanting good food and good service and not wanting to spend a lot of time to eat. It's not fancy but if you dont need... More

I've learned from my travels to NOT turn away from restaurants connected to gas stations or truck stops. On the east edge of downtown Indianapolis is an unassuming gas station with an easy-to-miss restaurant joined at its south end and a raggedy parking lot just past that. The restaurant, though, is a jewel that shines far beyond the superficial. I've... More

The meal starts with corn bread and peach butter. The smothered chicken is amazing. Sides of fried corn and black eyed peas were both very good also. Sweet Potato waffle was very good and the fried potato's were very good also. Pancake are amazing and eggs were cooked to perfection.

I don't understand how this place got best diner in the state. The fish was fishy, the greens were cold and tasted like the can, the mac and cheese tasted like plastic and the fries were undercooked.

Indianapolis, In (fried green tomatoes, smothered chicken, chicken and waffles) – August 2015 When you get a hankering for some good down home Southern cookin’ and comfort food this is your place to do it in Indianapolis. We had fried green tomatoes, smothered chicken and chicken and waffles and everything was just like grandmama would cook it up. Be sure... More

Can't say enough good things about this place. The comfort food and phenomenal staff always keep me coming back. We've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - but breakfast is my favorite! Mmmmmm...waffles!

We stopped in for a quick lunch passing through Indianapolis. The food was good and reasonably priced, and the service was quick and attentive. The highlight of the meal was the complimentary peach butter and biscuits. They were delicious.

Incredible both the food and the customer service!!! I had to try both the chicken and waffles and Catfish and grits! OMG can you say hot and fresh! I don't know if it was the manager but she came by both before we ate and after. She also invited us to come for Friday Fish Special. I will definitely be... More
