I have been here several times over the years.Friendly old school place with very good homemade food. They start you with a relish tray and white bread. This is probably the only polish place that does not serve rye bread! Pierogi , fish , polish sausage and fried chicken all very good.Walk in and seat yourself and do it before... More

We attended a funeral lucheon at the Cavalier Inn. The selection of Polish food (sausage, both fresh and smoked, kraut, pierogis followed by fresh paczki for desert) was awesome as mentioned by other reviewers. All was good but the chicken which was on the greasy side. However, it was in the 90s outside and very hot and sticky inside as... More

How did Texans and Michiganites (Michiganians? Michiganers?) wind up at a Polish restaurant in Hammond, Indiana eating a "funeral platter"? The answer to this question is ancestry, timing, location, and the wonders of tripadvisor. Returning from a funeral in Wisconsin, we met up with friends here after finding its review on tripadvisor. Both my husband and his friend grew up... More

Great to come home to! Fabulous pierogi, sausage, and potato pancakes. Decor is tired, but it adds to the nostalgia. Prices are still great! Love this place!

The breaded pork chops are the best, add applesauce and they're heaven. You are greeted with a bread basket and sides that include cole slaw, bean salad, and cottage cheese. I've eaten here several times n have never been disappointed. Authentic Polish cooking at its best. The decor is very outdated and can make you feel a little uncomfortable at... More

If you want cooking like you grew up on, stuff peppers, stuff cabbage, potato pancakes, sauage and perogies then this is a place you should try. The place is very dated but I kinda like that, if your looking for a fancy place to go out to dinner you may not like it. The polish food is very good and the prices are... More

My wife and I dine at the Cavalier (Cav) whenever we are in the Hammond, Indiana area. The Cav is a jewel of a neighborhood Polish bar/restaurant that is on the same level with the Polish restaurants in the Polish community on North Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. The atmosphere is that of a typical neighborhood bar/restaurant; with a bar room... More

My last visit, will be my last visit. Things have changed, they are no longer good. They were in years gone, but not now. Most things are not made there, prices are high, service is poor. I won't be going back again.
