Very Average, Nothing Compared To Gray's

This place was a disappointment to me. I expect great things and left feeling average. The food is good do not get me wrong but all is your everyday run of the mill food. Nothing jumped out at me and I was pretty disappointed the chicken and noodles were barely warm. The staff was pretty... read more

JB's use to be among my favorite places to eat BUT the past few years the quality of food has simply plemmented! Most items have no taste what so ever or is bland & of lack- luster quality. Gave it several tries lately but won't be going back: very disappointing each time. Plus number of selections has fallen drastically. A... More

Friends brought me here on a drive from Marion to Louisville. They had wonderful memories of Jonathan Byrd's in the past, when it occupied the main portion of its current building, had an enormous variety of food, and was always overflowing with visitors. Apparently, it's only a shell of its former self. It now occupies a small space to the... More

I love the cafeteria style service where you can see everything you're ordering. I've not seen it so crowded that we had to stand in line for a long time. The staff is really good about helping people who need it, to carry their tray for them.

A great place for real American food. You will not be disappointed! The Jenny plate is the best deal. Family owned, and ran with the highest values.

My most recent trip was to simply purchase layered carrot cake at the take-out window. The best carrot cake you will find anywhere. Visits prior in the last 90 days has been to meet with friends from my school days. Even though Jonathan Byrd has closed down the large cafeteria line, there are enough choices to please most everyone. They... More

I normally don't sing the praises of too many places, but Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria in Greenwood, Indiana (suburbia Indianapolis) is well worth going out of the way for IF you like cafeteria cuisine (I realize that cafeterias seem to be on they're way out). When I have to go to Indianapolis from my south central community, I make it a... More

We have used Jonathan Byrd's to cater (2) events for our Church for the past 5-6 years. Not only is the food great, but they set up the food line for you and help serve. The people are excellent and service is always good. The menu is pretty diverse to choose from. I would highly recommend them for any catering... More

We visited here over the weekend while in Indianapolis for the brickyard. A friend we were visiting with suggested this. Our food was quite good - nothing fancy but what one would expect at a cafeteria. The owner has a lot of race memorabilia throughout the restaurant. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but would go... More

I miss the long cafeteria line of foods from the early days but they do have the most requested things still on this shortened line. The broccoli salad is still my favorite and the portions are much bigger than those at the MCL cafeteria down the road. We had turkey and mashed potatoes and roast beef and mashed potatoes. The...
