This is your standard Mom & Pop Restaurant located right on the lake. the building looks like a shack but you will be pleasantly surprised. the food was good and the portions was incredibly large. They let my Service Dog in without any hesitation. There Potato Skin appetizer was huge and very good, they served it with sour cream and... More

Nice menu. Got there early on a Saturday night and sat by the window which is always a good view. Ordered two steaks - one a ribeye special which had a nice glaze with mushrooms and onions, cooked perfectly medium and not fatty, the other the NY strip which was basic, simple good quality meat also cooked perfectly medium well.... Had some college buddies visit. Went to the Retreat. Three of us had Rib Eye, one had fish. Streaks were thin and horrible (all were ordered med. rare.) Fries were burnt. Really a bad dinner. Fish was "so,so." Won't go back

Wrote a positive review re this rustic, lake restaurant last year ('12) and had a wonderful time there. Went back this year ('13) and could not believe the difference! I cannot say one good thing about this place now. We've been going there for years, and always enjoyed it. I don't know if there was a change in ownership/management or... More

Good Menu. Prices very reasonable. Our service was excellent. We stop here when we stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Very casual..

Traveling home to NY with the family. Found on tripadvisor. Very surprised. Service and food were great. Very reasonable. I agree with others - don't be dissuaded by the look of the place. Only suggestion would be to be able to open some windows and outside seating. Definitely worth a visit.

The Retreat at Lake George is a rustic-y, rambling wooden lodge right on the eastern shore decorated with classic black-and-white, decades-old, area photos, furnished with wooden chairs and tables, serving EXcellent food of a great variety. This was my third (?), fourth (?), visit in as many years and I have enjoyed it each time. The salad served with the... More

The old retreat has the same tables and chairs for the last 20 years but the owners seem to be different. The waitress was a nice girl but was the only one for whole room. We had soup of the day which had to much garlic, appetizer, and some specials. It took awhile to get food and it was just... More

We had a great time at this local restaurant. One of the features that night was a Brown Apple Betty ribs over apples and brussel sprouts - I had to order just for how unusual it sounded! It was FANTASTIC - my husband had a steak with portabello mushrooms that was very good as well. We sat in the bar... More
