Took a friend from Indy here for dinner. We had been to October fest in Munich together, so I knew we could find the same beers here. Beer was fine, but too cold, sorry america, not all beer needs to be 33 deg. or in a frosted mug, especially in January. He was fine with his schnitzel, but it looked... More

This restaurant is an intersection between a German Beer House and a hunting lodge. There are too many tasty beers on tap to count and a great section of sausages, and other German dishes to choose from. I have eaten here many times and always enjoyed the potato pancakes, red cabbage and apple strudel desert. It's pretty much a must... More

If you're a beer lover this is the place! HUGE selection of domestic and foreign beers. Try a tasting tray. Good food with a German bent. The tenderloin sandwich is ginormous - and fantastic. Steer clear of the appetizers. The kraut balls were a huge disappointment, as was the other items on the platter. The building originally housed a local... More

Our destination was for another restaurant, which happened to be closed the first two weeks in January. The group jumped on their cell phones and found Tripadvisor. Gerst Bavarian Haus was recommended and was very close to our location. We stopped... we ate...we loved it. A total of 10 people ranging in age from 18 - late 60's ... who... More

The Gerst Haus has a wonderful beer selection and the waiter was very knowledgeable regarding what they had. The German food was rather good also. Recommend the hot German potato salad. Do not be in a hurry to get out of the restaurant as they do not rush.

Ate lunch here with a group of business associates who were from the area and recommended it. Some of the food was very good (pork tenderloin sandwich) while some was average (chili). The bar had a wide variety of beers on tap as well. Probably would go back for dinner to check out the atmosphere, but wouldn't go back strictly... More

This is always a great choice when in Evansville. The food is fantastic, along with having a great selection of beers on tap and in bottle. Skip the chains and stop here. I doubt you will be disappointed.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Evansville. The food is always good and they have a great variety. The breaded tenderloin sandwich is huge and they have some great side dishes. I have never had a bad experience there.

A very wide-ranging selection (50+ taps) of local, regional and national craft beers and THE go-to German menu in town. The Gerst offers extremely authentic German food, and I say that from personal experience: I was stationed in Germany for 3+ years in the late 70's and returned on vacation in 2012. Every time we eat there, the food takes... More
