Absolute best chicken breast sandwich

I've eaten at Gerst House many times over the years but last week had most amazing grilled chicken breast sandwich I think I've had in this area! They also have by far best craft beer variety for this area

This is the best West side of town places to eat. Selection of beers outstanding!!!! I'm scotch Irish german, my husband is a beer snob and even he was impressed, the food is amazing even my German grandma couldn't make a better potato salad!!!! Kraut balls mmmm mmmm, we moved away from home and this is a must for when... More

Looks like nothing on the outside, but step inside and you could be in Munich or Berlin !! Ice cold beer and hot food. I ordered the brat selection appetizer as my meal. Husband had Wiener schnitzel. Both FABULOUS !! We were so stuffed that we did not get dessert, so we missed out on the Black Forest Cake and... More

This restaurant was recommended from a customer as a great German Restaurant. When I was visiting it was still cold outside and I was wondering why so many chairs were untaken at the entrance. I found out soon, anytime somebody came in you were almost freezing. The beer selection is very plentiful. I would say this was the highlight of... More

Being of German descent and that my husband lived in Germany for a number of years, I did expect the food to be better than it was, given the name. I had the sauerbraten, a favorite of mine, which I usually order whenever we visit a German restaurant. I've NEVER had my sauerbraten served shredded (like pulled pork). The flavor... More

Is an older building with a lot of character. Not my fisrt choice for food but im sure some would like the more traditional German dishes. Most of the menu is German so may not cater to everyone. The beer selection is especially great for Evansville. Many choices on tap and in bottle. They do have a nice patio. Service... More

I believe that this is truly authentic German food. We have had friends from Germany dine with us here. They say it is genuine. I think it is very good fare but not great. They have LOTS of different beers and sampling those is fun too. We go on a semi-regular basis.

In a community that was largely settled by German immigrants, a restaurant of this cuisine doesn't remain open if the food fails to satisfy old country standards. Until the latest experience, a trip to Evansville always included a scrumptous meal at this eatery. Stepping into this place is like being transported to another era. Housed in a former high-ceilinged hardware... More

I went here to meet a few friends for a drink and dinner. The bar is beautiful. Original and old, it just makes you want to sit there all day and look around at this historic restaurant. The place was packed. They have seating in the bar or in a family area. They serve German food with a few classics... More

Great old historic building. Worth stopping just to experience that. But even more worth it for the food. I had the potato pancakes as an appetizer. They were great, with a home made applesauce like my German grandmother used to make. The Sauerbraten was excellent, as where the Spaetzle and Red Cabbage sides. A good, solid, German meal that I...
