Good food and good beer selection

I love this place. It was once an old hardware store, and now turned into a great German restaurant. Good food, and plenty of cold beers on tap. Good atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly. My favorite food is the pork tenderloin sandwich. The only reason I don't give it a five is because of... read more

The food, the service, the ambience, the location -- these are what make Gerst a must visit place in Evansville.

Love the general feel and atmosphere. High ceilings, old marred wood, and lots of beer taps. The menu said the Ruben was a favorite. Humph... Let me preface any further comments with saying I HATE a sandwich with soggy bread. And that is what I got. So first impressions were not good. Oh sat at the bar and did get... More

We tried the combo platter and it was good. Lots of beers to choose from. It doesn't seem to have a lot of good restaurants around. We picked this one and it was good. And its a cool place to sit and look around.

We had dinner not knowing that they were having a old car show out on the main street. The place was packed but we decided to go ahead and eat at the bar. Me and my wife had schnitzel which was decent. I would eat there again.

Place is dated and needs revitalized and a good cleaning. Did not eat, however a couple of beers were good and they had a great selection. Customer Service was really good!!

We have eaten here several times and never been disappointed in any of the dishes we have eaten. While they do have an American menu also you should try one of their German dishes. After all, that is their speciality! The servings are extra large so go with a big appetite. They also have a ton of different beers for... More

Authentic German food, but sausages and brats not that remarkable, sauerkraut and spatzel very good. The beer selection is huge with a nice spread of beers on-tap. Nice old building with good atmosphere.

This restaurant has been here since 1999 and I have eaten here maybe a dozen times since then. It was an offshoot of the original Gerst Haus Restaurant, which is located in Nashville, TN and first opened in 1955. I started eating at the Nashville restaurant around 1976 and ate there at least once every month or so, until they... More
