Something different

Wife and I stopped in on a whim after the Shrinerfest Air Show. It was only 4:30 and the hostess told us they wouldn't be open for dinner until 5:00. The outside appearance of the establishment gives reason to pause but the interior was nice with real tablecloths and folded napkins. On our... read more

Reservations are a must in this odd out of the way restaurant. The outside of the restaurant is what students call as "sketch" but when you walk in you will be pleasantly surprised with the white table clothes but shocked to see several statues of Santa hanging around in the middle of July. The clientele at the bar is the... More

If you don't care for tacky Christmas decor, it won't take you long to completely forget about it....the food is just that good! We've been coming here for many years, as have many other locals. The menu is varied, including some Arabian, and Italian dishes. But the steaks are what keep us coming back time and again. The wait staff... More

This is our second time to House of Como and we can't wait to go back. It would be classified as a Dive but the food is the best. It is Lebanese but also has the best steaks you have ever had. The Italian fare is great also. It is off of the beaten path and looks questionable but don't... More

It was my first time going to House of Como, and I was truly hoping for a higher quality steakhouse experience. I asked the waitress what they were known for, and she mentioned steak. I ended up ordering a Filet (Medium), however it came out initially Well-done. The waitress apologized and promptly refired the ticket- it came out this time... More

Chicken Djage is the best. The most tender chicken you will eat....served on a bed of rice. The salad and homemade pita bread is wonderful. Pork chops are another favorite. Very warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with Christmas decorations year round. Reservations are needed and no credit cards are taken...cash or check. Unexpected location but so so good.

I have dined at House of Como since I was a child, and it is really a diamond in the rough of the Evansville dining scene. The place is tough to describe - parts of it seem like they don't care (e.g. the halfway-setup Christmas decorations) while others are top-notch (e.g. their steaks). I guess that the best way to... The House of Como is not for everybody. If you think fine dining are franchises where all the food is pretty much the same, this is not your place. If, on the other hand, you want something unique and different, you have found the right place. George, the owner passed away a few years back but Martha, his wife, continues... More

ThIs was my first visit and all the reviews said it was great food if you could get past the tacky decorations. The reviews are right. It is great food and the decor is tacky. Where else can you go where it is Christmas all the time. I had the lasagna with a side of meatballs, my wife had the... More

Unique to the bone, this Southside Evansville landmark has endured the test of time. Whether it's their steaks, their Lebanese spiced chicken dejage or the mint infused Arabian salads with fresh from the oven flat breads, the joint's kitchen knows how to prepare a meal. And, the service staff at Como are lifers who understand what a white table cloth... More
