MY wife and had often talked about going to Sauk Trail. The outward appearance is good, the interior of the building is better the attire worn by the staff is a surprise. Jeans and T Shirts not what I expected. We were taken to a table in the back part of the restaurant and it was obvious there was a... More

Service was very good. Drinks refilled promptly, food came out pretty quick, etc. I had the ribs. The portions were large and filling. The downside was the meat was tough and fatty. The dry rub was very good. If you like wet ribs this is not your kind of bbq though. There is sauce on the table so you can... More

We were there on a Friday night at 6. There were only 2 other tables seated and they decided to sit us right at the wait staff doorway. The plates were warm but the food on all four plates was barely above room temp. The salmon was the best but the beef brisket, wings, pulled chicken, and ribs all looked... More

The atmosphere and staff were excellent but the food wasn't so great. Chicken strips were greasy and soggy on the bottom. I did not like the cold "Texas caviar" which was black eyes peas. I had rib tips which were ok but it was all a bit much for the price. Would not go here again sorry.

My husband and I have been customers at Sauk Trail for years. The old place was an old, crowded bar with lots of ambiance just over the state line - we liked it better than this location. We have eaten here several times since they moved to this location and the service is good or bad depending on the day... More

The smoked ribs and chicken wings are amazing, definitely worth the trip. We tried the beef brisket which was also very nice. The restaurant is recently decorated and has a more modern feeling than many in the area. I will visit again.

Have eaten here 3 times. The smoked rib tips and wings are outstanding. The sides, OK. We have had good and bad service here, very bad last time. Owner apologised and took 20% off our bill. They were short staffed. I am from TX and picky about my smoked meats. This is the real deal! A dry rub.

We have visited the Sauk Trail several times and have been pleased every time. We always eat in the bar and the service and staff are awesome, friendly with great personalities. The seafood and chicken are excellent. The beef (brisket) and pork are quite dry for my liking with the exception of the Hawg Wings, but the flavor is great,... More

We loved going to the old Sauk Trail in Michigan. The lemon pepper wings used to be the best! It used to be a good deal, but now this place is really nice, but really expensive.

I went there for the first time, it was very good! We were there on a Friday (5pm) so pretty early there was no crowd. Service was excellent, the food was terrific! I am not a big fan of 'smoked' food as it's usually garbage with fake smoke flavoring. This was NOT FAKE, it was delish! I tried 4 smoked... More
