Homestyle dining at a iconic restaurant landmark

The Beef House has been around since the late 60's. It's located on the border between Illinois and Indiana on I-74 on the way to Indianapolis. There are highway signs which have coaxed patrons for decades to visit this iconic restaurant. It's been supposedly voted Indiana's best steak house... read more

The Restaurant is in an area that's quite accessible from Interstate 74, and Indiana Route 63. Probably an hour north of Terre Haute, IN. The first thing you see when you go in is a meat counter, full of fresh cut steaks, and you can watch the butcher as he cuts the meat in the next room. The salad bar... More

We have been going to the Beef House nearly forever, but the steep increase in prices means this will be our last visit. The steaks are good, but not worth the nearly double compared to charges in relatively adjacent towns. Our server seemed to have a superior demeanor, yet he appeared overwhelmed; the overall experience ruined an otherwise special occasion.... More

We visited here as we were passing through the the area. We are from a little over an hour away and had heard of the place and been there before but it had been many years. The restaurant has a nice friendly atmosphere to it and looks probably unchanged for decades which is actually quite nice. We stopped by during... More

I was brought here as part of a business dinner while I was in the area. This is a nice place with a rustic feel and probably looks the same way it did when it first opened. It's hard to beat that kind of charm. The staff here is incredibly friendly and personable, I felt like I was having dinner... More

After who knows how times we've placed this exit we decided to give it a try. Old restaurant with lots of space. Large fresh salad bar, fabulous homemade dinner rolls with apple butter, great broccoli cheddar soup all came with the meal. Regular ribeye steak very good flavor but nothing out of he ordinary and a thin cut. Marinated steak... More

My husband and I ate at the Beef House January 8 during our visit to Danville. He had never eaten there and I had not been there since the 60's. We were both well pleased. Both the service and the food were excellent at a reasonable price. We will return the next time we are in the area.

Sorry to say we have been past this place on I-74 many times and never stopped! But today we did and the reward was immediate! Very well kept facility, very pleasant atmosphere inside. The menu is extensive with steaks and other great items like fried chicken. Really good salad bar. We will never miss stopping here again. Waitress was exceptional,... More

I'm afraid I've been jaded by eating in steak houses that serve prime beef. The Beef House doesn't and I can serve myself the same quality at home.

I have literally been coming here since I was an infant with my parents and I'm now 42... Always delicious get the small steak as the salad bar as huge and great. The bread rolls are incredible.
