Great Afghani Food with Something Missing

I enjoyed the food here and the service was incredible considering there were only two people working the whole dining room. I was surprised that there was not more offerred from the tandor and there was no cucumber yogurt sauce.

This is the first Afghan restaurant I have eaten at since being on active duty in Kabul & numerous other in-country locations. The food and ambiance here is simply exceptional and the visit was a true experience in traditional Afghan hospitality. The co-owner and manager Hadid (sp) was very courteous & personable. We shared mutual stories on international travel and... More

First trip to Bloomington, coincidentally here at the same time as some friends from home whom we don't see often, and who are vegetarians (we are not). Used the ratings here to find a restaurant within walking distance from both our hotels, and picked this spot. We were not disappointed. Although the menu had VERY enticing options across the food... First, let me say if you are not into trying things or extending your palate, this is probably not going to be a restaurant for you. They don't serve Big Macs! Thankfully. Second, my review is a little below the norm, I know. But we went for the lunch buffet, and it was good, but definitely not a great experience.... More

my fiancé & I just ate here tonight & it was great! We had never had food quite like this before. If you are not a plain boring eater & enjoy trying new things than you will love this place. The service was great & it had an upscale feel. Cost a little on the high side, it was $41... More

This was our first excursion to Bloomington for Afghan food and we cannot wait to go back. It was absolutely tremendous in every way. From the appetizer beef pastry, to the eggplant slices for a complimentary appetizer, to the combination pasta and combination keebab plates - every bite was full of flavor and unique taste. Absolutely will make another trip... More

The ambience was good. I had the Lamb kabob served on a sword-like skewer. It was very delightful, though the lamb (medium rare) was a bit tough. Others had a variety of food and were satisfied. there were 7 in our party.

what it takes to maintain excellence in the culinary world. This venue has been providing fine dining of slow cooked food, good wines and reasonable prices for decades. Last evening eight of us met here for dinner. Hameed, the co owner and head waiter, had prepared our table with his pleasant personality and warm smile. Our food choices were judged... More

We don't often end up in Bloomington, but we are now going to have to find a way to pass through more often, if for no other reason than to eat at this restaurant. The Chicken Manto was exquisite. I'm not sure I've ever had a meal that was more of a treat to my palate than this meal was.... More

Read great reviews of this restaurant on TripAdvisor, so finally got around to trying it. Food was unique and presentation was tasteful. Service was great. Waiter was polite and helpful. Property was very clean with nice ambiance. Will come again!
