Excellent lamb, Cornish hen, shrimp kabobs. Lovely salads with salmon, etc. Good selection of wines and beers. Most highly recommended for a delightful experience !

We were driving around looking for a restaurant, and we fortunately found a parking spot near Samira's. The atmosphere in the restaurant was already so soothing and comfortable, and the gentle and professional service was the cherry on top. The food was exotic and delicious. The experience would have been perfect if the person sitting in the table next to... More

I wanted to visit since the high reviews, but it didn't quiet meet the expectations. We went for late lunch, like 1:30 pm. Quite frankly, it was dirty, but I took into consideration that maybe the lunch crowd had just left. The buffet items are served from the silver platters with lids with maybe 8 items consisting of rice, some... More

We went never having tried Afghan food, and the lunch buffet provided a nice array of choices. The hummus was a nice accompaniment and the baklava was a tasty dessert. A nice find in Bloomington.

My husband and I had never eaten Afghan food, and I suspect we had the best possible introduction to the cuisine. My mouth waters just to think of the meal we ate, and I desperately wish there was a way to get that meal in southwest Ohio!

"We closed 12 minutes ago" said the waiter. I was hungry after looking for the restaurant with the food my mother used to eat: Afghan. The good hearted waiter allowed me to enter and have a lunch buffet. It's delicious. Remember the food critique who shed tears after tasting what his mother used to cook for him as a boy?... More

We love introducing new people to this wonderful restaurant on the square in Bloomington. Pretty dining room, friendly/competent service, amazing food= great restaurant! Something for everyone on this menu. Wonderful kebabs. Delicious rice dishes. Plenty of vegetarian choices. The owner/chef is an amazing cook and a warm and friendly person in general. A great choice for a special meal in... More

We celebrated my son's birthday at Samira this weekend with 20 guests. The restaurant has white tablecloths and an elegant feel while maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The manager set up a long table for our group, and devised a set menu with choices for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Every dish was interesting and delicious -- grilled eggplant,... More

This Afghan restaurant has been a hit since they moved here from Indianapolis 10-15 years ago. The white table cloths and attentive service offer a classy ambience. The wine list is not long but reasonably priced and the food is unusual with Indian-like spicing -- though not curries. Very popular with IU faculty, especially during hiring season. (In March-April, the... More

Buffets make me nervous, especially the ones where the dishes aren't covered . Bacteria farms is all I can think. We chose this eatery based on the reviews and the fact that in a phone call, they told me that I could order off the Dinner menu at lunch if I did not want the buffet. After thoroughly inspecting both... More
