The Runcible Spoon has been a staple of the Bloomington coffee and dining scene since the 1970s. For me, it's biggest problem has been consistency-- service, quality of food, even what comprises certain items on the menu regardless of time of service. We stopped going there around four years ago after several "Let's give them one more chance" meals were... More

We were staying at a local hotel and the evening before asked the bar tender about any local places for breakfast. He made this suggestion, we had to walk about 5 blocks but it was well worth the walk. When we arrived at the address we were in front of what looked like an old dorm house, walked up to... More

Pancake takes a whole plate by itself. fluffy and delish. very unique. Its a busy place so go early morning or very late. Just a bit noisy. In an older house structure that has charm from fixture, wood floor, wood tables and décor around the place. worth the treat.

I love the outdoor seating area when the weather is nice, and they have a great beer selection. The breakfast is pretty good, but I think everyone in town makes too big of a deal about it. However, their black russian grilled vegetable sandwich is absolutely amazing. I am someone who usually likes to try everything on a menu, but... More

The pan seared salmon is awesome! It comes with potatoes and vegetables. It also has a little bit of the black bean soup which is really good.

Very quaint place to visit. The food is some of the best you're going to find in Bloomington. The prices are very reasonable, and your impression from the outside might lead you astray, but you owe it to yourself to give it a chance.

We love eating at the Runcible Spoon any time but especially on a beautiful day when we can sit outside on the patio. In May the restaurant was very accommodating of our large family group after my daughter's graduation...inside in one of the bigger rooms. We had a huge variety of food that day and everyone loved what they got.... More

We visited the Runcible Spoon during Parents weekend. Our breakfast was fabulous. Gourmet ingredients, and delicious tastes. I ordered the western omelet, and my wife ordered Blue Berry pancakes. In her words, they were 'amazing: I have never had pancakes like that before.!" Both dishes were fabulous. Coupled with ecclectic decor, earthy, but fun atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive.... More

Very cute restaurant, located right off kirkwood. The restaurant is in an old house. The omelettes were excellent. Best breakfast in town.

Cute little restaurant in an old house right off Kirkwood ave. Creative dishes sourcing local products. This place is so popular the wait is long on weekends...but worth the wait.
