Michael's Uptown has a loose New Orleans theme, with dishes like gumbo routinely on the menu. The bar is stocked with many high-end whiskeys and very knowledgeable bartenders. The staff here is wonderful, from the managers to the bus boys. I have never had a bad meal here. It might seem like an expensive place to eat if you only... More

Uptown is great for any meal or occasion. Food, service and atmosphere is all wonderful. The expansion only made it better. Downtown parking costs, which is a drawback, but you park in the Third St parking garage for three hours free.

My wife and I found this place while looking for another resturant. The steaks were top notch and the service was even better.

I used to frequent the Uptown in the late 1970's when it was still a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant just north of the Bluebird. It was great then. And even better now. I had the opportunity to have a late night snack in the Uptown's lovely, sophisticated new bar area during a recent visit back to Bloomington. Ordering from the Late... More

Have been eating at Michael's since I was a student at IU in the early 80's. The place was a favorite of mine back then and continues to be today, when we return to Bloomington. Wonderful, busy atmosphere with exposed brick walls and interesting artwork. Servers are all friendly, many with interesting stories to tell of their educational pursuits. The... More

I've been here for brunch, dinner, and drinks on five separate occasions, most recently for the opening game of the World Cup (Brazil v. Croatia). This is a good place to come watch soccer with other fans of the game -- they even dedicate the large private back room to soccer, projecting the game onto the wall. (They show Champions... More

The prices for small town America are a bit much. The food was good but not great and it was cooked incorrectly. The waiter completely forgot my drink and the manager was seen several times hovering around tables but couldn't be bothered with asking how things were.

Breakfast this morning was delish. I had Huevos Rancheros..yum, yum. People were lined up waiting for them to open and I understand why.

Uptown very quickly became my favorite place to eat in Bloomington. As a big soccer fan, I love the atmosphere over the weekends while matches are being shown. Always good service and very friendly staff. Food is amazing as well!

I came with extended family and friends on a busy Sunday in April for brunch The restaurant is quite spacious and I didn't feel cramped or crowded where we were seated. The service was a little slow (if you're hungry or have small children), but probably just fine if you want to linger and enjoy a casual Sunday brunch. I... More
