If you are a vegetarian, or vegan, this restaurant is for you. There is a large selection of tofu items mascarading as chicken, bacon, or fish. Also lots of cheese and vegan cheese. Be careful of the white chocolate almond cupcakes, however. Mine had way too much almond flavoring. Aside from that, this is a good restaurant.

Feeling the inner herbivore in me wanting to get fed, the Owlery became the destination for taste. Nestled between an Italian Restaurant and a photo gallery, The offerings at the Owlery provided an exceptional alternative to meat and more meat. The Poutine was oh so delicious and very nutritious. The waitress was exceptional friendly. Almost reminded me Loonette from the... More

This is one of our "go-to" restaurants in town. My partner is vegan, and this is one place where she has plenty of options. Personally, I'm not a bean-lover nor do I usually care for tofu or most fake meat options. The Owlery has several items based on seitan, including a Reuben that is one of the best I've ever... More

I was excited to see a restaurant that claimed to be geared toward those with food preferences, requirements and allergies. The food is quite good but.... SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!!!!!!! Wait-staff is VERY unfriendly and downright aggressive with patrons for no apparent reason. Don't know who the heavy woman with the faded pink pig-tails may be, but she's really pissed... More

Sandwiches, soup, salads -- all vegetarian, most also vegan. Prices affordable & appropriate. Decor is a little lacking, but you come to eat for the food...

I was really pleased with my first meal there. I can't eat a large amount of soy, so was delighted to find several great options on the menu: great tasting hummus and veggies as an appetizer; a delicious black bean soup of the day; pierogies with various sides (I had onions, sauerkraut and soy-based sour cream); grilled cheese and more.... Since it opened, the Owlery has become one of my friends' and my favorite locations for almost-weekly dinners. We've got a mix of diets around the table--vegan, vegetarian, and meat eaters--and we all love the Owlery. I think my favorite thing about the Owlery is having an option for vegetarian comfort food like the fried chicken dinner and an option... More

We are confirmed carnivores but don't require meat at every meal - tried the Owlery mainly out of curiosity and were very pleasantly surprised. Definitely a hippie ambiance but we like that; seitan made a great meat substitute in our BLT and Reuben, we took a BLT home for our veggie son and he was impressed with it as well.

I was thrilled when the Owlery reopened on the square because I like it much better than Roots, Bloomington's other vegetarian restaurant. The Owlery offers a lot of unusual dishes for vegetarians. The main drawback is that its menu is fairly heavy on meat substitutes.

This has become one of my favorite Bloomington restaurants. I really like the Philly cheese, poutine, perogies, BBQ, and the all the sides are very good as well. Don't forget to grab a piece of cake or a cupcake. Best in town. They also have a small bar that usually has 1 or 2 great craft beers on tap.
