Friendly, good food, slightly overpriced

We live in Bloomington and eat here a few times a year. It is a friendly, warm place. Nice decor, pleasant staff. The food is one step below gourmet and one step above comfort food. It complements a night out, neither disappointing nor dominating. If you go out to eat mostly for the food... read more

We walked down here from the movie theatre after seeing "Chef". If you've seen the film, you'd understand. The restaurant did not impress. We sat at the bar, had decent but not impressive Sazeracs(not chilled enough). The specialty French fries and calamari were soggy , not crisp, and BORING. I've had decent wine dinners here and used to take job... More

The entres were excellent and the service good. I would say the atmosphere is just average because they have a bar area and sometimes you can hear the noise from the bar, which can be disruptive. But the menu and the preparation make up for it. We have been there before and never had a bad meal. I had the... More

Truffles is casual yet very classy. Don't be surprised to see Mark, the owner, show up at your table and start a conversation.........or just say hello and leave you alone. Food is beautifully-presented and the service is impeccable. Ask for Brett! We go there as often as once a month, live just a block away, and of all the choices... More

I was taken to Truffles during a business trip to Bloomington. We started in the bar area with drinks, which were well mixed--a good beer and wine list as well, in a pleasant, upscale ambiance. Our fairly large party then retreated to a rear room where we were served by a knowledgeable, attentive waiter who accommodated some complicated issues concerning... More

Dined with a party if five. I was not expecting what came out of the kitchen. Goat cheese served with toast!! Portobello mushroom carpaccio? What? Oh yeah!!! Don't skip that. Simply superb. Main courses included two perfectly cooked filets, salmon, house made fettuccini special, and chicken. There was narry a morsel of food left on any plate. Nice presentation and... More

The Truffles bar area menu is somewhat limited but is priced reasonably with well prepared food. For a more formal dinning experience, the main dining area is private and intimate. My husband & I have been coming for years and find the food well prepared and soups wonderful. On a recent visit, the fish tacos had been taken off the... More

Make sure they have the Dark Chocolate Creme Brulee before you go! The menu changes periodically, but usually my preferred dining experience is to eat in the bar off of the bar menu - but you can eat off of either menu in the bar.

Somewhat limited dinner menu but entrees are prepared well and the seasonal specials are excellent. The catfish tacos on the bar menu are a favorite.

Get dressed up to go to Truffles. Their bar is spectacular but the food is often too salty and the chef uses a lot of oil on everything. Last time I was there I ordered the Scallops and they arrived in a pool of oil from the pan fry. Disgusting.
