Fun place for casual dining

We visited twice - for dinner and brunch. My husband especially enjoyed his corned beef hash @ brunch. Food was tasty and well prepared both times. Friendly servers added to our enjoyable experience.

Soups are wonderful!! Sandwiches and salads are pretty darn good too! They've moved to a new location. Haven't been there yet.

We go to The Public House every few months. It's really hit or miss, with the service and the food. I would recommend it for a quick lunch or casual dinner. The burgers are the best, and the wraps are good, but didn't really enjoy the dinners.

Service was good, but the food was nothing special. Tried to fish tacos and they were tasteless. Rice for with the talking was obviously microwaved

We drove over 30 miles to discover that our favorite restaurant in Woodstock moved to Barrington, Illinois. We asked a couple of locals where was the best restaurant in the areas, the Public House. We found the food to be excellent in taste and presentation. The mushroom soup was not cream based but broth based and delicious. The schnitzel with... More

Was recommended as the best place in town for a nice meal. We were there for late lunch/early dinner around 4pm, restaurant was almost empty inside. Hostess seated us right next to the POS computer! Right next to the "pinch point" where servers tried to squeeze by to get to the other two rooms. We thought it would be ok... More

My family had Sunday Brunch on Mother's Day. Let me start by saying the new location is great. Much brighter and happier than the old location. (And there are no stairs, so it is great if you have mobility issues.) And a lot of character and history. The brunch was excellent. So much so that we already plan on returning... More

Conveniently located on the square in Woodstock this restaurant is in a historical building but retains none of the charm on the inside. We had lunch of Chicken Tortilla soup and Turkey Hero sandwich. The soup had very little chicken and wasn't spicy at all, basically a totato soup with three tortilla chips in it. The turkey was nothing special,... More

The seafood diablo was LOADED with crab, shrimp & lobster. The burger's are great and food is served hot. Best part of our visit was the service we received. I believe his name is Alex and he was by far one of the best waiter's I've ever experienced. Well worth trying if you're looking for something different.

Visiting in Woodstock and looking for some place different for a meal. We were directed to Public House. Our group was seated in an old jail cell. Service was excellent and prompt. Our food was good and served in a timely fashion. We were a group of 8 and all were quite satisfied. I had the grilled chicken and it... More
