I have enjoyed eating at Burton's for nearly 50 years, and I recommend them to anyone who asks. The food is excellent, as is the service. It is nothing fancy, but you can't beat it if you want a great meal. The pies remind me of those at an old-time church homecoming dinner, but be sure to order it when... More

Eat here occasionally and never disappointed! My favorite is the fried fish special. Regardless of what you order, save room for their awesome pie! They have a unique pie called White Pie, however my favorite is the cocoanut cream! There slogan is fitting --- Life is short, eat your pie first! Located on Route 37. Easy access for interstate travelers... More

2 friends & I stopped on the way to the Southern Illinois Artist Museum. We were seated immediately & the waitress was prompt & friendly. My friends had the special roast pork & both were happy with their choice. I had a burger with grilled onions & bacon. It was cooked perfectly & the accompanying fries were hot & crisp.... More

I had lunch there and it was horrid. They actually put the butt of an onion on my burger. JMO, but don't go for the food. But, their pies are fabulous and the white pie tastes like it was made by angels. Go for the pie. The pies are definitely worth stopping by.

Get the fish special and some pie if you don't catch any at Rend Lake don't worry they got lots of it here. Sometimes they have Blue gill. I have ate there allot after a hard day of fishing not catching . Stop in I bet you don't leave without making a friend. This is where the locals go so... More

One of the offices I was working in recommended Burtons, and it was fablous. Food was excellent. Took home some apple and white pie and it was heavenly.

As their shirts say "Life is short, eat pie first!" Very true! I had to go twice to get pie because the first time I went I didn't order pie first and they ran out. The food was great...home cooked goodness. The white pie is excellent!

We found this rather cute little diner unexpectedly when someone had accidentally left a pamphlet in a visitor's centre. When we got there, it looks like the diner from the Canadian TV series, Corner Gas. The food was delicious and freshly made, coffee was rather bland and we heard that they have great pies, but we were quite full after... More
