Once upon a Saturday afternoon....

....a family drove from St Louis to Waterloo, Illinois in search of the infamous Dreamland Palace German restaurant and when they got there, here's what happened: We had to search for the entrance which had a "closed" sign in the window. We were greeted by our server with a blank stare which... read more

Wonderful cozy place with a great atmosphere and wonderful food. All real deal, homemade German. The sauerbraten is absolutely to die for.

This resturant has sklipped from what was once a fine German Resturant to a very poor excuse for a German Identificatuion of a resturant. Thery only have one " Real" German Beer ( And Becks Beer is now actually brewed in St. Louis Mo. by Invev.) They try to pass off craft beer by Urban Chestnut a local craft brewery... More

This place is a well hidden treasure. Looks like you might want to drive right by it from the outside, but oh when you step inside the ambiance grabs you. Great place for lunch or dinner. great authentic german food. I'm planning a large Christmas party there this year. Great service, owners are very friendly and happy to explain the... More

We have eaten at Dreamland Palace many times. We have had excellent service each time no matter how many of us are at a table. The food is close to Germany type food. I have not found a restaurant in the Saint Louis are which is as good as eating in Germany. The only restaurant which made you think you... More

The restaurant business must be one of the toughest to be in. If you lookover the reviews for this place, dozen's have given it great reviews . If you look at my review from last year I thought that the restaurant was great with authentic food. Well consistency is a key, and a bit of management when hiring your servers.... More

The food is good and the company of the owners is also a hit. We enjoy taking people from St. Louis to this out of the way destination. They have come back on there own --- so I would take that as a good sign.

We have now driven there 3 times and never been disappointed. I've never been to Germany, but grew up in a German-American area and this is like the good German food I remember. One of our party grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch area and she felt right at home here. One person ordered hasenpfeffer and couldn't get it--they said it... More

Food is always excelent. I have been to many good German Restaurants and have been to Germany several times. Can't say that I have ever experienceed more authentic food anywhere else in the states. Food is always great, the owners come out to greet and meet their guests. Great Place we eat there often.

I took my parents there when they came to visit me last time. I had read the reviews... After I ate there I decided that anyone who rates it at all favorably has certainly never been to Germany. It was just not good. I got Jäger schnitzel, and it was just an americanized version of something resembling a thin veal... More
