You won't go hungry at this place near Starved Rock

This casual eatery on Main St in Utica has great food and big portions. Three people in my party had the fried chicken and raved about it. The homemade mashed potatoes were a hit. Another person enjoyed the chicken strips. I had the spaghetti and ravioli pasta dinner. The meat sauce was sweet and... read more

We visited for lunch, and were extremely hungry, after hiking at Starved Rock, so we ordered an appetizer too. To our surprise, when our appetizer came, it was HUGE! We were used to getting about 1/4 of the portion at home. We then received our giant entrees. Needless to say, we took a lot of food back to our hotel.... More

On a business trip @ Starved Rock & decided to get out to see the area. Reviews were good so we thought let's try this one. Our meals were really poor. Hoagie looked good but the steak was over done, bread was burned. Fries were also too done & tasted like they were cooked in stale, old oil. "Fried" tacos,... More

Burgers, tenderloins, etc. were fine and are standard fare here. Very suitable for pub food. Limited draft beer selections.

We love going to Skoog's for lunch. We had he deluxe nachos this visit which is a huge plate loaded with fresh nachos, meat, cheese, onions and tomatoes. The menu says it has beans and sometimes it does but on our last visit it didn't. That was good with my husband since he isn't fond of beans. The portion is... More

We stopped in this quaint ice cream and sandwich shop, right on the main street in Marseilles, IL on a cool day in June. Ice cream was enjoyed and the chocolate covered strawberry was scrumptious! By accident I left my jacket on the back of my chair. Several days later, when I could not find the jacket, I traced our... More

We visited for lunch and our waitress was Jaci. She was kind and absolutely spot on with recommendations for food and patient with our children. The food was delicious. We had the combo appetizer and the fried pickles. Our sandwiches were very tasty. Such a great place!

We stayed at Starved Rock Lodge and had a wonderful meal at Skoogs. The place was full of friendly people including the staff and the food was great. We loved the nachos, potato and sausage soup, ribs and salads. Everything was good and we were stuffed when we left. I highly recommend it and will be back the next time... More

This is a classic tavern eatery. The pork tenderloin is about 3 times the size of the bun and I loved it! If you are there on a cold day, try their chilli.

We stopped in on a friday night for dinner with the family. We had been here before with great results so we came back. We were in early, so seating was not an issue, but it filled up while we are there. This place is suitable for family dining and is not just a bar. I was very happy to... More
