This is becoming my "local" even if its 1hr 45mins walk away, or 45mins on a bike mainly across fields. a) old world pub b) allows dogs in the bar area where you can dine with the same menu as the restaurant c) great menu and ever changing specials that are also yummy d) you can ask for child/half portions... We were looking for a lunch stop on our way back from holiday recently and settled on the George and Dragon as it looked attractive as we drove by, and promised a garden to sit in as we had our dog with us. I wasn't aware that dogs were actually allowed in the bar, but the garden proved to be... More

We use this as our local, even though its a 1hour 45min walk away, or a 45 minute bike ride. Dogs are allowed in the bar area which is handy for us. You can eat very well in the bar area but the number of tables are limited so you would need to book in advance. Staff are always super... More

Fish and chips with mushy peas and large prawns with garlic bread and salad. A perfect lunch again thank you!

Disappointing. The menu showed promise but didn't deliver. I had Venison fillet, haggis mash, parsley carrots and red wine sauce at £22.50. The venison was pretty tasteless but was tender. The mash - yeuk! A grey splodge with unidentifiable lumps in it. Red wine sauce was just a flavourless gravy. Friendly staff though and olde worlde pub surroundings.

Been here three times and ordered the same every time as it is amazing Starter of whole cambert with onion relish - wicked Steak and skinny fries and peppercorn sauce on the lunch menu - masses of chips, cooked to perfection My only dilema was adding a good review, as best to keep this a hidden secret, brilliant. Oh and... More

This pub's bar prices will empty your pockets quickly - they are way over normal bar prices. Try the other pub just up the road which is far nicer

This gastro-pub has a long varied menu (which makes one suspect they have a large deep-freeze) without anything tempting out of the ordinary and the helpings are large but not too expensive. However the bare tables are crammed too close together and the service not impeccable, having to be corrected twice. It offers a satisfying lunch but without ecouraging a... More

Had lunch here recently mid week, this is a village pub atmosphere but also excellent restaurant facility, food very good with a nice selection both on the blackboard and standard a la carte Very good wine selection to compliment the food choice. Staff very friendly and attentitive. It has two lovely log fires that produce that automatically relaxing feeling, especially... More

Have been eating here on and off for 3-4 years but this was our first visit back for over a year. Food quality and choice very good still, I had a mushroom risotto with Tarragon (which should really be described as a tarragon risotto with the odd mushroom) but was still light and pleasant, and my wife had the Lincolnshire...
