Took our two American friends here to experience a truly English pub. One had fish and chips, the other a burger (she's fussy!) they loved the atmosphere here, low ceilings, funny posters and bric a brac around the walls, all adding to the experience. The open log fire and lighting add to the ambience. Staff are very attentive and helpful... More

Tried this pub as it seemed to have good reviews and looked lovely from the outside - nice enough on the inside too but disappointed by the food. Paying £60 for a starter and main for two (only one drink each!), was expecting a little more but the food, although looked reasonably well presented, lacked any real flavour and given... More

We have visited three times this years so far (2015) and are sad that we did not find this place sooner. The food is excellent, the staff very friendly and to top it all, there is a dog friendly area too!

I'd forgotten what a difference it makes going to a restaurant / pub where the waiting staff have a personality beyond the training manual and have a genuine interest and enjoyment in their work. The staff were great and so was the food. Between us we tried a good selection from the menu including the kidneys, lamb and duck. Presentation... More

Liver an onions dish seems to have altered ..... No onions anymore and overall presentation not as good as previous visit. Service was not great but clearly a new person training. Toilets still not great for such a nice place Everything else was good It's just the small details that stop this place moving to another level

my daughter recommended this pub to us and we weren't disappointed good friendly service, good beer at sensible prices the food is very good, and generous portions as well. prices aren't too bad, considering what you get (as usual, you get what you pay for...) booking at peak times is essential!

Stopped in for Sunday lunch and didn't know what to expect! As soon as you walk through the door you walk into a warm friendly bar area with open fire place. You can't help but feel instant relaxation! We had fish and chips which was absolutely superb! Crisp mouth watering batter and crispy fluffy chips! Bar staff are lovely and... More

First visit to the George & Dragon at Swallowfield today for lunch. Very nice atmosphere and interior decoration and very busy for a Thursday lunchtime. Great lunchtime menu and daily specials looked good too. We had two mains (Calves Liver and their Braised Beef & Mushroom). Both were excellent and very generous portions. Ringwood best bitter and Doombar on offer.... More
