Stopped in for Sunday lunch and didn't know what to expect! As soon as you walk through the door you walk into a warm friendly bar area with open fire place. You can't help but feel instant relaxation! We had fish and chips which was absolutely superb! Crisp mouth watering batter and crispy fluffy chips! Bar staff are lovely and... More

First visit to the George & Dragon at Swallowfield today for lunch. Very nice atmosphere and interior decoration and very busy for a Thursday lunchtime. Great lunchtime menu and daily specials looked good too. We had two mains (Calves Liver and their Braised Beef & Mushroom). Both were excellent and very generous portions. Ringwood best bitter and Doombar on offer.... More

It's rare to find a good pub that serves good food but this is one of them. Visited after a recommendation and was not disappointed. The food is good and the staff are very friendly. The desserts are amazing. Worth the drive. Recommend booking.

I've been to the G&D many times and it has never failed to disappoint. The food and service is always exquisite even when I have been a part of a very large group. I would and recommended this pub to everyone I know.

Easy to find, located in some pretty countryside popular with walkers. We were greeted as we entered and asked if we had booked (Saturday Lunchtime). We were shown to a very nice table opposite the bar. The menu was extensive and interesting, I ordered barbequed king prawns and my wife ordered a filled pancake. There were a variety of draught... We came across this place in The Good Pub Guide whilst looking for a convenient stopping point in between motorways. What a find. Friendly service, lovely food, good beer (Doombar) and wine, roaring log fires. Just a shame we don't live close enough to visit more often. It was very busy and the first question was whether we had booked... More

For many years this pub/restaurant has been managed by excellent travelling back packers from France, Australia,South Africa etc it always had a vibrant atmosphere sadly it appears to have lost it recently.. The food is always excellent due to the adventures chefs behind the scenes, this is not a cheap venue but the Gents toilets need some serious investment to... More

Great little place this, very cosy. The staff were helpful and smiley. Very good service at the bar and the table. We visited on a Sunday, so a roast it had to be. I had the beef and my partner had the pork. It was delicious and plenty of it. We will definitely be returning.

Haven't eaten here for some time but met friends for a meal last week and everything about this place is as good as ever. Friendly welcome, excellent staff, good beer and great food - what more could you want on a miserable January evening. Four of us had different starters & mains and all were top class.Highly recommended.
