Anniversary Celebration

We visited this old country pub with family for our 47th wedding anniversary. The interior is very traditional and welcoming. The summer menu was not extensive, but perfectly adequate, and supplemented by a few starter and main specials. Down side this evening was that the fryer wasn't working... read more

This used to be the best little hidden gem, what on earth has happened?. We waited over an hour for our food, we raised the issue and were told there were big tables in? Where are they then as we were in the grotty dirty conservatory out the back and thepub was not packed. Other people were served before us... More

We were booked in for a birthday celebration for 4 people, Half the menu was not available as their fryer was not working, Quick run to currys would have solved that problem. got offered Mash with a burger ask my self How does that work !! The service was poor, A drink got knocked into our laps, The food is... More

I myself are not vegetarian, but it really puts me off, when there is only one choice available and it was on the specials board and even then it was not 100% vegetarian because it stated it had parmasan!!! More chefs need to think outside the box when it comes to vegetarians. Probably will not come again, as there are... More

Very good. Had an evening meal at The George and Dragon this week and the food was as good as expected. The atmosphere was warm and service was excellent. Staff were friendly and price of foods were very reasonable. Delightful evening all round. Enjoy.

Fast service, good selection of dishes, generous portion size. Very well cooked or prepared food and service with a smile with the correct level of attention. Small point, ladies drinks should be served first at the bar. We have been here before about 5 years ago, and tried it again for this occasion. I would revisit and recommend without exception.

Such a lovely quaint pub. We stopped for lunch with out cocker spaniel who was welcome into the bar aswell. All the staff we encountered we're welcoming and friendly. The tuna stead is genuinely the best one I've ever had. Delicious!

What a great location right in the middle of nowhere - so peaceful - and yet only 8 or so miles from Reading. Friendly welcome, good beer and good food. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit (not the first) and will be back. It is also child friendly although there is no child's menu (or at least one was not offered). Great... More

We popped in on the spur of the moment for a bit of lunch. Nice simple menu. We both had the dragon burger which was really tasty and well made. As it was a nice day we sat outside. The garden furniture is in desperate need of updating. The benches are tired to say the least. Pub had nice atmosphere... More
