I had the smoked sable on a pumpernickel bagel with all the fixins. The Hubby had the salty lox. Unbelievably delicious! The next day I went back for a corned beef knish, a potato pancake and a cheese blintz....again, it was like culinary magic.....the cheese blintz was the creamiest & most delicate I have ever had...*sigh* If I had a... Kaufman's has high quality, traditional Jewish deli fare plus a great bakery. I love the onion bagels and they make their own cream cheese with chives. The Nova lox is the best I have had. they even have pickle barrels where you can pick you own pickle - new or old. I feel the prices are a bit high but... More

Stopped in for bagels, pastrami, corned beef & assorted other great items they offer. Place is an authentic Jewish deli/bakery with a nice selection of deli meats and sandwiches, baked breads & bagels, cookies, cakes, soups, etc. I got the usual when I go--- pastrami & corned beef to bring home along with cheesecake slices, doz bagels and cookies that... Recently had a great corn beef sandwich for dinner. (The best I had in a long time) It was served warm if you wish. the new configuration of this Deli certainly has made it more modern and easy to cruise around and see what is available to purchase. You can have lunch or dinner or just pick up something. They... More

We've always made a stop at Kaufman's when we're in the Chicago area. So when we visited one year and found out about the fire that temporarily put them out of business, we were crushed! But we figured that Skokie would have at least one other authentic deli. That year we searched everywhere and asked around to find another great... More

Love bagels and authentic delis and try to stop at Kaufman's whenever i am home. it's a step back in time with delicious bagels, corned beef, pastrami, kugel and other deli-ish goodies. Don't miss it if you can help it.

Everybody has their favorite bagels and these are mine. It's a 2nd or 3rd generation family business and it shows. They had a fire about two years ago and rebuilt at the location. The new building is much more accessible than the old one. I don't know where they get their barrel pickles but they are my favorite. Most people... More

I, and many others, had been anticipating Kaufman's reopening since a fire destroyed the original several years ago. We have been rewarded for our patience and the persistence of the owners. Other reviews have focused on the excellent deli food & classic bakery items. Another aspect of note is the variety of frozen entrees and soups now offered. To date... More

After extensive research, I can say that this is the best deli in the Chicago area. Definitely worth a visit for pastrami and/or corn beef sandwiches, bagels, and pastries. The addition of super friendly staff make visiting Kaufman's an all around rewarding experience. Definitely worth the short drive.

Usually, about once a year, I get a hankering for a good corned beef sandwich. This year it hit me on my way to the accountant in Skokie. What a place and what a selection. Don't even consider hitting McD's across the street. Do yourself a favor and come to this place. Lunch is likely to be a little crazy... More
