Right in downtown Skokie there sits an unassuming restaurant called Kabul House. It's truly delicious, yet very unique. There are similarities to various middle Eastern cuisines - we've all had kabobs, right? Yet Kabul House seems just a bit different. The soups are flavorful. The Mantoo appetizer or entrée is to die for: a type of dumpling that is filled... More

I finally tried Kabul House after hearing about it for several years. It lived up to its hype and was even better than I expected. There was a short wait on Saturday night, and people continued to wait as long as we were there. Two of us had the Aush-Rashta soup, which was a flavorful vegetable noodle soup with a... More

Though similar to Persian food it is different and also very good. My wife had the Murgh chicken with rice and I had the Mootoo. Both great. Service was slow but we were not in a hurry.

I love their delicious lamb dishes & the lentil soup. the service is pleasant & the small but cozy dining room can get filled quickly so come early for dinner to avoid a wait.

We stayed overnight in Skokie on a recent trip to Chicago. Amazing meal and very attentive staff. Enjoyed the Mantoo appetizer sauce was slightly spicy and refreshing at the same time. We all enjoyed the lamb dishes.

A pleasant find in Skokie, IL. Not many of us (maybe not even the Troops!) have tried Afghani food, so you´re in for some great home cooking and sauces. Not spicy like food from India, etc. Attentive waiter, gracious host/owner, proud of sharing his culture and homemade recipes. Main dishes about 11-14 dollars. Great desserts. Pleasant setting with Afghani background... More

This was my first time eating at an Afghan restaurant, and if they are all like Kabul House, I'm a fan. The food was different than anywhere I usually eat, portions were generally big, and the price was reasonable. We had two delicious soups (aush-rishta and tomato lentil...prefer the more complex aush-rishta), appetizer of mantoo (tasty, but only 4 pieces),... More

I've never had Afghan food before I came here so I couldn't tell you if it was authentic--but it was without a doubt totally delicious and the restaurant is beautiful with excellent service and dirt cheap for the ambiance, service and food they served. I will come back here every time I come to Chicago!

We've discovered this place only in early March. An excellent location. Food is delicious - by far the best meat I've ever had in town. The spices used by the chef on this meat are really great. The waiters and the lady that serve and seat people are very nice and friendly. Great service. You cannot make reservations for groups... More

This is a great place for mediterrnean food. It is better than typical falafel + pita fare. There are different menu items. We tried lentil soup ( mild and very tasty) + Bulanee ( Aloo paratha). I loved that they give pomegranate posder to dust the bulanee. Must try! I had aushak ( veg ravioli) with mint sauce which tasted... More
