I ate here last night. I was hesitant to eat here because Middle Eastern food is not my favorite cuisine but I was happily surprised. The restaurant itself is decorated tastefully with a several child sized colorful Afghan dresses on the wall. The wait staff was friendly and well informed. It is a BYOB restaurant so we bought our own... More

I've been to the Kabul House over the years and dined there with various people for both lunch and dinner. I usually like to try something new, from appetizers to desserts. They never disappoint. I'd recommend the Kabuli Palau rice dish, Afghan national dish and any of the kebabs.

Worth the drive. On vacation wkend in the city and decided to take a risk and Uber up to Skokie from dwntown. After 29 years of waiting for authentic Afghan food, the meal was amazing. Family of four with two and a friend under 8 years old loved the food. The mantoo, chicken kabobs (Murgh) and Kabuli palau were hits... More

Have been here 3 times. twice for lunch and once for dinner. my favorite appetizer is the eggplant, but my friends favorite is a ravioli type meat. The salmon entrée is just Fab! but my favorite is the Kabul salad with giant grilled shrimp. there are 2 dressings. I do not like the really sweet mango, I prefer the spicey... More

Warm service, light-filled space, comfortable and private seating arrangements, excellent food with refined, subtle, well-balanced flavors. We went for early dinner about 4:30 on a weekday. We were welcomed and seated right away. Gerber was our waiter and he was a sweetheart. We told him it was our first time, so he took some time to explain about the restaurant's... More

Our family includes a range of picky eaters, including a vegetarian, and this is a great place to satisfy all of those appetites. The food is excellent and the option to bring your own wine also lets us match our specific tastes as well. As for specific dishes, every lamb dish we've tried is excellent, and the Aushak options are... More

Happened to be in Skokie (of all places) for a conference, and my wife and I decided to try the Kabul House. We had to wait a while, but everything we had was astoundingly good. I would return in a heartbeat. I would note that the restaurant does not have the greatest ventilation, as smoke literally gets in your eyes... More

Great place for yogurt + lamb dishes and salmon. Servers and managers very gracious. Tip: Test the sauces before slathering your food; some are mild and savory, but what came with lamb kebab was very spicy and too vinegary for us. It is easy to leave if off. This downtown Skokie location had plenty of street parking during early dinner... More

My friend and I read good things about this place, so we tried to make a reservation via Open Table for Friday evening without luck. We decided to take a chance as a walk-in. Great results. Tip: go early to shorten the wait time. Two favorites we shared were so flavorful we wanted to take more home! The lamb kabob... More

I have been here for lunch several times and have taken various friends there. It is always a hit. The place is quiet and staff is attentive. I love the small plates that can be ordered and shared. Their Apple salad is more than enough for two - or use it as an appetizer for sharing with even more. It... More
