Our family includes a range of picky eaters, including a vegetarian, and this is a great place to satisfy all of those appetites. The food is excellent and the option to bring your own wine also lets us match our specific tastes as well. As for specific dishes, every lamb dish we've tried is excellent, and the Aushak options are... More

Happened to be in Skokie (of all places) for a conference, and my wife and I decided to try the Kabul House. We had to wait a while, but everything we had was astoundingly good. I would return in a heartbeat. I would note that the restaurant does not have the greatest ventilation, as smoke literally gets in your eyes... More

Great place for yogurt + lamb dishes and salmon. Servers and managers very gracious. Tip: Test the sauces before slathering your food; some are mild and savory, but what came with lamb kebab was very spicy and too vinegary for us. It is easy to leave if off. This downtown Skokie location had plenty of street parking during early dinner... More

My friend and I read good things about this place, so we tried to make a reservation via Open Table for Friday evening without luck. We decided to take a chance as a walk-in. Great results. Tip: go early to shorten the wait time. Two favorites we shared were so flavorful we wanted to take more home! The lamb kabob... More

I have been here for lunch several times and have taken various friends there. It is always a hit. The place is quiet and staff is attentive. I love the small plates that can be ordered and shared. Their Apple salad is more than enough for two - or use it as an appetizer for sharing with even more. It... More

Thanks to TA, I found this clean restaurant in Skokie for lunch. They offer ton of organic ingredients at very reasonable price. I had salmon salad - it was delicious. I also had a glass of mint ice tea that everyone recommended - it was soothing. The only thing we did not like about this place was that the wait... More

Went on a busy Saturday evening but restaurant courteously found seating for six of us. The waiter and staff were friendly but not overbearing. The food was outstanding. We each ordered different items. I had Tomato Lentil soup, Mantoo Entrée and finished with Afghan custard called Firnee. My wife had Kabuli Palau, braised lamb on rice. I can attest that... More

This place is just fantastic. We went there to celebrate an anniversary and it was amazing. The staff is so nice and friendly. The food (I've been eating in a lot of Middle Eastern/Turkish places), hands down this is the best kebab I've ever had in my life. Sorry Istanbul favorite restaurants, but Kabul House is better. Recommended (from our... More

Fantastic food. Wonderful staff. Good portions. I would strongly recommend trying the basil iced tea and the pumpkin appetizer.

Whenever I travel, make it a point to seek out unusual foods or highly recommended restaurants. I was not disappointed in the Kabul House. The food was surprisingly delicious. During my first visit, I had the mantoo and the murgh chalau. It was so delicious that I returned two days later and ordered the bulanee and the murgh chalau, again!... More
