Good, but always too uppity

The service and food are always good, not excellent and the prices are extremely high. I had the wagyu ribs which I shared with my wife because at 39.00 it was pricey. 4 people at 300.00 is a cheap dinner there. That was 1 drink each. Ouch. Service is good but too uppity.

I was invited by orthodox Jewish friends to have dinner at Shallots. Overall it was a bad dining experience. Our pony-tailed waiter told us that if we didn't order right-away we would have to wait two hours for someone to take our order. Why we asked? Answer: they were catering two weddings. The chicken Dijonais was quite literally uneatable. It... More

We had reservations for the bar seating but when we arrived the Host informed us that there was no seating available at the bar. Instead of getting a lot of lip service and long waiting times, we were immediately seated in a VIP section of the main restaurant! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and showed a lot of patience while... More

My family and I went to this restaurant for my sister's birthday. The food was delicious but very pricey. The good news is that the portions are huge so you get your money's worth. There were six of us and everything we ordered was delicious. Two of us shared an appetizer and an entree and we had to ask for... More

Not sure what to expect from outside appearances, we took the plunge and went in. Little did we know that it was a Kosher restaurant. The service was only good and the staff just didn't seem overly friendly. We tried the jalapeno poppers and found them to be the hottest that I have tried. The steak was properly done. I... More

I have been here several times and always enjoyed myself. The food is great but the sushi is stupendous, it is of the best I have ever had, and the chefs are willing to make something that is not on the menu. This is not the plae to go if you are not willing to spend it is pricier than... More

Took a client out for dinner at Shallots. The decor, ambiance, and attentive wait staff was way above average. The food was really delicious. From the appetizers to the soups and to the main course, we weren't disappointed. Coming from NYC, I've eaten in many. Good steakhouse and Shallots stands up to them. It was my clients first trip to... More

This restaurant kicks any NY steakhouse i have been to, my wife and I are "foodies" and we ate here as it was highly recommended and it lived up to its expectations! Waiter was extremely nice, food was well priced and was delicious! Would consider flying to Chicago just to eat here.

We had a family dinner in June 2014. The restaurant is positioned as a high end kosher steak and sushi restaurant. Saying that, my expectations were set. The seating hostess and her manager were not hospitable. As we did not make a reservation we were given the feeling of second rate customers - doing us a favor that they agreed... More

When I live in Chicago I came here many times. The food, while pricey is very good. Quality can be a drop inconsistent, especially on busy nights. Your better off coming on a weeknight when things are less busy.
