Good, but always too uppity

The service and food are always good, not excellent and the prices are extremely high. I had the wagyu ribs which I shared with my wife because at 39.00 it was pricey. 4 people at 300.00 is a cheap dinner there. That was 1 drink each. Ouch. Service is good but too uppity.

Shallots, simply put is a great American steakhouse that happens to be Glatt Kosher. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. The waiters are friendly and you never feel rushed. Great appetizers, soups, and bread. If you are looking for great ambiance with food to match, then shallots should be your destination.

The best Kosher restaurant in the United States. From Eve helping make our reservation to the service by the wait staff to the Chef. THe food is incredible. Best Crispy rice ever. The sweatbreads were insane. The steak was so big I could not even finish it. Great place. Can't wait to go back.

I was so excited to eat at Shallots on my visit to Chicago. However, the food was ridiculously overpriced and didn't taste good. I will never go back.

I was invited by orthodox Jewish friends to have dinner at Shallots. Overall it was a bad dining experience. Our pony-tailed waiter told us that if we didn't order right-away we would have to wait two hours for someone to take our order. Why we asked? Answer: they were catering two weddings. The chicken Dijonais was quite literally uneatable. It... More

We had reservations for the bar seating but when we arrived the Host informed us that there was no seating available at the bar. Instead of getting a lot of lip service and long waiting times, we were immediately seated in a VIP section of the main restaurant! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and showed a lot of patience while... More

My family and I went to this restaurant for my sister's birthday. The food was delicious but very pricey. The good news is that the portions are huge so you get your money's worth. There were six of us and everything we ordered was delicious. Two of us shared an appetizer and an entree and we had to ask for... More

Not sure what to expect from outside appearances, we took the plunge and went in. Little did we know that it was a Kosher restaurant. The service was only good and the staff just didn't seem overly friendly. We tried the jalapeno poppers and found them to be the hottest that I have tried. The steak was properly done. I... More

I have been here several times and always enjoyed myself. The food is great but the sushi is stupendous, it is of the best I have ever had, and the chefs are willing to make something that is not on the menu. This is not the plae to go if you are not willing to spend it is pricier than... More
