Obviously the food at Poochies isn't something one should eat on a regular basis if they wish to live a healthy life to old age, but moderation is the key. I highly urge you to try the grilled salami sandwich w/sauteed onions & bbq sauce. fantastic.

Consistently outstanding burgers, hot dogs, Polish, as well as their more unique offerings: grilled kosher salami, brisket, etc. Quick, responsive service, with all the trimmings, including very fresh grilled onions and more.

I like the Chicago style dog, and the Chiliedog! The wait is never long and the hotdogs are good quality. The chocolate shakes are also great, and the fries are awesome. I'd come here again and again!

We ate here for lunch. The original cut fries are excellent, Burgers were nicely done and toppings were served individually with personal touch.

According to co-authors Jane and Michael Stern of "Roadfood," the coast-to-coast guide to 900 of the best hot dog, hamburger, barbecue and lobster joints and ice cream parlors in the United States, Poochie's in north suburban Skokie produces the best red hots of them all. Nothing fancy, just all-beef Vienna franks boiled to perfect plumpness and served in tender, seeded... More

There is no better dog than Poochies! Wonderful steamed buns, great condiments, and fries. One place where going by yourself for a meal is not intimidating - there are several large screen TV's on the walls to watch as you eat. Hamburgers are also top notch. Cheese freak? You can get melted Merkts Cheddar on your dog, hamburger or fries.... More

Whenever I fly into Chicago I want Chicago pizza and a Chicago dog. Poochie's is the place I go for the dog. Service is friendly and fast and the hot dog is always just what I expect. Fries are great and the newspaper articles and photos of great Chicago sports moments make the whole experience more fun. Great place!

I live an hour's drive from this place- but that does not stop me from driving there to tackle a couple of their 5 star cheddar char dogs. If this was closer to home. i would weigh 300 pounds. Take whatever steps necessary to add this to a Chicago eating trip- or any trip

Here's where you get it. Some distance from downtown, but the best you'll get. Slightly relocated and doubled in size, but still the best Chicago red hots. Tourists? Do NOT ask for ketchup!

You won't find a better Chicago-style hot dog than the char dog at Poochie's. I've tried dogs all over the area and none could beat Poochie's. The French fries are also excellent. Hand-cut, twice-fried and made to order, they are truly outstanding. A Poochie's Chicago dog and fries is one of the best meals in the area. I drove 45... More
