a surprise

We've driven by this place many times. Tonight, we were intending to go to the nearby Maggianos (Old Orchard) but the wait was too long. We decided to try EJ's and were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the mandatory valet parking (as others have noted) was unusual but not an issue - its free folks! We... read more

Old-school steaks and chops - the food is wonderful and the service excellent but not sure it's worth it unless you're on expense account or celebrating a special occasion. I left feeling like I had a great dining experience but that the value isn't there. Lots of other dining options close by for a better value. Their Chicago steak house... More

I love EJ's Place! Coming from another part of the country where steakhouses are not as they are in Chicago, it's always a treat to go to EJ's. I think their steaks are just wonderful, but, I usually order the chicken a la Joe (chicken with peppers, all white meat). This is not a dish I have ever had anywhere... More

If you can't have a quiet conversation with your dinner partner, you must be at EJ's. If you meal is OK but the price is Oh Boy, you must be at EJ's. My wife and I dined there once and promised not to subject ourselves to the abuse again.

I do agree with the comments on the entree prices. When you first take a look, there's a bit of sticker shock. But my friend and I split a strip steak, and still took home left-overs. With a shared entree, the average came out to be what I spend at most Chicago restaurants. Our steak was perfectly cooked. The sautéed... More

Typically, Steak restaurants are expensive. I get that. Most of the time, when I go to a steak restaurant, I obviously want a good steak, good company, attentive service and a great atmosphere. Most of the time, I would venture downtown to Chicago when it is time to satisfy my steak craving. A friend recommended Ej's and visited on a... More

EJ's tucked away in Skokie Ill. Delivers the service we all remember and food we want to come back for. Grilled Calamari that you must order. Sausage and peppers grilled in oil garlic and onion that are a meal to themselves. Service from waiters , like Johnny Farrara , with over 50 years of service , leave nothing to chance... More

I never write reviews but this place needs one - things that should be address Price- I don't mind spending money on good food but 130$ for the ejs place quality not worth it. Food- absolutely horrible - steak had the charred burn taste and extremely rare / bloody- made me sick the next day . I would never serve... More

EJ's is as good as they get and I've been to every great steak joint in the country! As a 30 year G&G regular I get my fix here and it's every bit as good. The steaks and chops are simply perfect, especially the lamb. The on -the-bone pounded veal Parmesan is one of the best items in the menu.... More
