Everything you used to have in a small local deli but spread out in a big restaurant in a popular mall with tons of parking. Large portions of everything--whether potato pancakes or the garlic-soaked pureed eggplant or your classic deli sandwiches with onion rings. Both tables and booths--lots of them. Food the way you remember it.

After visiting the nearby Illinois Holocaust Museum, I wanted to continue the Jewish experience with my granddaughter on our "history" date. The Bagel Restaurant was the perfect place to enjoy some Jewish style foods and continue the discussion of what we had seen. The menu offers all of the traditional items. I enjoyed Liver & Onions with a side of... More

Very reliable kosher-style meal and snack selections, prepared as Grandma used to make them. Great soups, breads, potato pancakes, dill pickles, coleslaw, soft drinks accompany oversized sandwiches, giant meal plates and excellent fish preparations (from lox to jellied whitefish and fish salad).

This place is located in the mall on the east side. You will not be awed by the atmosphere and it is a bit pricy, but the motza ball soup is great. If you are looking for something quick, tasty, and filling just get the soup. You will not be disappointed. If you have deeper pockets the Ruben sandwich is... More

Try the kishki (spelling?), rueben, tongue and matzo ball soup! Everything I've had here I have really enjoyed! I'm in the military stationed overseas at the moment and every time I come home to visit my grandma and I come here to eat. The last time we were in town we were out having our pictures done nearby and all... More

Chicago isn't awash in Jewish delis, so we have to take what we can get. Fortunately, The Bagel does a lot of things right, particularly its chicken hot pot, gefilte fish, and bagels. My favorite Jewish breakfast food is fried matzo, but I can't really recommend this restaurant's version. But sit me down with their complimentary pickles and bread basket,... More

This is the BEST Matzah Ball soup anywhere. The sandwiches are all abundantly packed. All the Jewish Deli favorites and more. the salads are crisp and can feed 2-3 people. When they put bacon in a salad or BLT, it is always golden crisp. Don't miss this place

Even in a city as large as Chicago, deli style restaurants can be hard to find. As a staple in the Lakeview neighborhood for many years, visitors or residents up north can enjoy the same selection and service at The Bagel Restaurant at Old Orchard Center in Skokie. Located towards the northeast side of Old Orchard Center, the Bagel offers... More

Kreplach soup? Delicious. Reuben? Awesome. Potato Pancake? Mind-blowing. Service? Fast and with a smile! Location? Excellent, because after you eat here you'll need/want to walk the mall!
