Met an author in the book store while waiting for our table. Bought his book and went in and had a great breakfast.
This cafe is located near downtown, but off the beaten path a bit. The dining area is surprisingly large and open, though, and being able to browse the great book store before or afterwards is nice. What I loved, though, was the food. I don't think I've ever gotten a sandwich that was as well put together as they do... More
I was planning a Saturday bike ride on the Fox River Trail with my two young adult daughters and was looking for someplace relaxing and fun to stop for lunch along the way. Luckily, my Google search turned up Town House Books and Cafe. This friendly little establishment offers an interesting and wholesome lunch menu, including homemade soups, fresh salads... More
This building is full of nooks and crannies... You can easily while away a morning or afternoon picking through the books, even though it doesn't look that big from the street. I recommend first stopping in the cafe attached, if there's a wait, then go in and browse/buy books. There is a great selection of soups and salads...I had a... More
This café was a very pleasant surprise, I went along for a girl's birthday lunch...recommend getting there when it opens at 11 am as we did and got right in. Wonderful soups and good size portions. The attached bookstore has tons of books not seen other places, reminded me of good book stores in Chicago. Worth the drive no matter... More
Just great soups and sandwiches or light brunch. The desserts are ALWAYS amazing. And IF you need to wait - it's fun to browse the books and cards. Really nice atmosphere. Nice to eat outside in the summer.
This is a go to spot for a very nice lunch. If there is a small wait for a table, no problem, just go into the bookstore and check out the books. They will come and get you when your tables ready. The soups are homemade and fantastic. Sandwiches are great and come with terra chips or fruit. My favorite... More
Quaint little mom and pop bookstore with a cafe attached. The food was fresh, plenty and wonderful. Had the clam chowder, one of the best I've ever had. Service was great and and the atmosphere warm and friendly.
We love the food and atmosphere at Town House Cafe--for breakfast or lunch: delicious, fresh, thoughtful, special. Hometown, Homemade. SPECIAL!! Be sure to try it, you'll be glad you did!
This is a nice little gem that is off the beaten track, but is definitely worth a visit when in Saint Charles and browsing through the antique shows. They have a great home cooked Sunday brunch, nothing too fancy, but good old home made goodies......coffee is great, service is very friendly and prices are reasonable........
