Quaint book store and nice cafe!

Town House Books is a fun place to browse and spend some time! I tend to buy something every time I go. I love supporting a local, small bookstore and they always have the book I'm looking for. The cafe is nice, especially the outside seating area.

We rode our bikes down the bike trail along the fox river and then stopped at town house books and cafe for our noon reservation. Glad we had reservations because it was a very busy place on a Sunday at noon. They quickly seated us. It is a cozy place. The food was very good. I will eat there again,... More

Came here for afternoon tea with a friend. The menu has a great variety of desserts and goodies, all reasonably priced. Sandwiches are tasty, judging by the reaction of the diners at the nearby table. Soups are available and there is a great selection of beverages, including wines and champagnes. Service is prompt and friendly. Definitely worth the trip!

My second time here from England. A charming little tea room for us ladies that like to do lunch. Lovely food again. Just missing scones, strawberry jam and a dollop of clotted cream on the menu to go with a cup of tea ... English folk would know what I mean.

Want to know what to read next? Stand by the cashier's area and all around it are the best of the best books. Weave in and out of the rooms with walls covered with book-filled shelves, grouped by genre and subject matter. Just a block or so north of downtown St. Charles' Main Street, the store and cafe are in... More

If you're in the St. Charles area, a stop at Townhouse is a must - the attached independent bookstore is a delight. The Signature Salad and Apricot Chicken Salad are wonderful. Wine is also served, and they have a great brunch on Sundays. There is usually a 10-20 minute wait to get in, and outside dining is available during the... More

The menu is based on literature. The grilled cheese is amazing. The soups are to die for. Don't bother calling asking about the soup options that day. They are all delicious!!

A friend had a turkey club sandwich piled high with fresh veggies. I had ham & cheese which is oddly served open faced but tasted good. A much better option than most places as the food is fresh. Yes, it takes longer than a drive through but if you want something tasty, it's a much better option.

Enjoy a delicious lunch and browse in the interesting bookstore located a charming old house that's tucked away in historic downtown St Charles. Town House Books and Cafe was recommended by a friend and it lived up to my expectations. The sandwiches are savory and the breads taste homemade. We tried the Tuna Avocado Melt and Lea's Grilled Cheese. Arrive... More
