We have been to Shogun many times over the years, and never been disappointed. As you walk in, the Shogun warrior armor should be your first clue this place has atmosphere. If not, the spinning water wheel and giant koi pond inside should. The chefs at the tables are hilarious, and my kids love being able to try to spin... More

While it is super pricy its super worth it. Very fresh and delicious. Would recommend all of the food. And the cocktails are delicious too :)

This place is always fun with great food. The best Japanese food in Rockford! So much better than "the other place"

We had a party of 11 and made reservations well in advance. When we checked in the people that work the front desk we not friendly at all. I was quite surprised. After waiting 15 minutes after our reservation time I inquired and was abruptly told -"you're next." We were seated at a grill by ourselves due to the size... More

The people working the front were rude and inappropriate. They make you feel like you owe them something. I wonder if this is a family run restaurant. It's like a bunch of snobs. The food was not up to par. You can get this type of food but better in Rockford. Try hatchi hatchi - or even at the mall!... More

Pros: Luckily we had an entertaining chef/host. That makes such a difference. Izakaya is next door (conjoined indoors) and that is such a neat lounge bar!! Vegetable roll sushi is fantastic. Vegetable tempura roll is kinda greasy. Seaweed salad is yummy and just what I wanted. Miso soup is good, but we like having the little tofu cubes and wakame... More

Rockford Sushi rolls were incredible! Shared the dinner for two with and had so much food could hardly finish it all! Great choice for a fun date night and or group of people! Cheaper and more food but just as yummy as other hachhi grill in area!
