The menu is quite varied and ambitious which the culinary skill can't quite match. The food is not great but the place is charming--filled with detritus and local artifacts from older establishments that have either gone away or been refurbished. The woman who waited on us was also not great but charming. She started off saying she'd been crying all... More

This restaurant is consistently inconsistent. Menu is way, way too ambitious. Nothing is great - everything is average. Has gone downhill since opening and Jim's interest was redirected to his new place in the suburbs. A shame actually.

Shogun is a very good Japanese restaurant and has a great little Sushi bar. Weekends are crowded and when I want to have Sushi or some Japanese food other than the typical Hibachi show, I sit in the Sushi bar area and order from the menu. I am never disppointed and the service is good even with people waiting for... More

My grandpa suggested we go to this restaurant, and I'm SO glad he did. First of all, the menu is huge and EVERYTHING sounds so delicious. I went with the BLT and I can tell you, it's ruined all other BLTs for me. This thing comes on a delicious pretzel roll and is LOADED a with bacon. It's like an... More

We visited here in the middle of the afternoon, wanting drinks and an appetizer. The waiter suggested the fried calamari, which was plenty for four of us! It was delicious and crispy, just right to go with cold drinks. We'll try dinner here the next time we go through Rockford.

We ate at Stone Eagle last night. The food is always excellent. The atmosphere is vibrant. The service is fabulous. This is our favorite restaurant just to get away and have a few drinks and a great meal at the end of the day or after shopping. The owner Jimmy is the most gracious host you will ever encounter. I... More

In a town that loves their chain restaurants, I love to see the small local guy find success. I wanted to be excited about Stone Eagle. We found ourselves with a gift card and without children one Friday night. Perfect combination, right? I'm sorry to report we were extremely underwhelmed. We started with the spring rolls, which were overly greasy.... More

Plating could have been more attractive. I ordered walleye pike and it came out a small dish where the fish covered most of the surface. My 1st reaction was 'That's it??' Nice atmosphere.

We were tired. Slightly hungry. We were immediately attracted to the sign announcing they were not a chain and locally owned. The help was efficient and prompt. We split a wood fired pizza. It was good but I wished the sausage had more flavor than fennel. It needed a bit of zip. Were I not sharing I would have been... More
