Gene & Jude's is a true Chicago classic with a Mike Royko-type story to match. In 1946, city worker Gene Mormino was attending a Cubs game at Wrigley Field when he decided that if he added French fries to his hot dog it would give it a gratifying dose of saltiness and crunchiness. So he started a hot dog stand... More

I've been frequenting this establishment since my high school days. If you want a real Chicago style hot dog this is da place! Just waiting in line is worth the trip! The stories from customers is very entertaining. If your just passing thru and have time go there!

Visiting Chicago and St Louis in November and stumbled upon this hot dog joint. The double dog with fries with everything was amazing. Therelish..onions...peppers..mustard combo was just delicious. The place was packed but it went by quick and we ate it in our car like almost everyone. Great food with great taste

I stop by Jean and Jude's often when I am the mood for a good hot dog. I really like the atmosphere and the service is always friendly. For Those who have not experienced this establishment, it is all cash, a simple classic menu, no seating, long lines, good hotdogs, cheap prices. The menu has just a few menu items.... More

by all means if you want to try a true 100% authentic Chicago hotdog then you went to the right place reasonably priced, but as an advice to you do not ever go there on the weekends or rush-hour because he will wait at least for 10 minutes until it's your turn to order

I think some of the fun was waiting in line with the people. It moves quickly and lots of smiles and conversations. Make sure you have CASH as it is CASH only. The hot dogs are a unique taste, but really good! Don't touch the ketchup!!!

I went to Chicago for a wedding and the people I was staying with said that I just had to try Gene and Jude's because they were the best place to get a hot dog. I am not a big fan of hot dogs but these were awesome. They were perfect by themselves and no need for ketchup and the... More

An institution and well worth a trip. Do not even think about putting ketchup on your classic Chicago dog!

No thrills just the best hot dogs anywhere. If you go here, all you can get is hot dogs, fries, hot tamales and pop. That is it but you don't need anything else. They still wrap your dog with fries piled on top of the dog in paper and then dropped it in a brown paper bag, Chicago style. When... More

My wife and I can here for what some have called the Best Hot Dog in America. I'm not qualified to say that that statement is true, but I have no evidence that it isn't. The dogs were great. The fries were great, too. Worth the wait. There's nothing fancy here. It's dogs or tamales. Nothing else. Eat in your... More
