First, there is no seating, no "customer service," and NO ketchup. The food is greasy and absolutely delicious. Hotdogs that snap, fresh-cut fries, awesome tamales. Not easy to find, but once you do, it will be memorable. Don't expect a fuzzy, warm atmosphere. Rather, think "kiss my grits" but northern-style. I'm craving a gene & Jude dog right now.... One... You have not lived until you have eaten a Gene & Jude's Hotdog. In the neighborhood for years and you can alway bank on a hot hot dog and a line the wraps around atleast once. Definitely fast moving so it is always worth the wait. Even though we have moved, worth the road trip back down memory lane. No... More

There is no better dog anywhere! Add the fries- pure heaven. We live in CT, but find excuses to get to Chicago a couple times a year just to go here. It is the best of the best.

Ok, so there is no place to sit. But that's fine. We sat in our car (like most people do). At 2PM on a Wednesday, there was a line that wrapped around the inside of the place, but by no means did we wait a long time to get our food. They are very efficient at running that line and... More

Overall, I wouldn't make a special trip to come here. The hotdog at Portillo's is better, there are more locations, there is not much of a wait, and you can sit at a table. Back to Gene's & Jude's: - we went on a Sunday at 2pm. The wait was 20 minutes long - I was expecting something amazing because... More

I went one time to this awful hot dog establishment. The hot dog is skimpy then they throw fries on top and greasy. Don't go here for a great hot dog.

I've been going to Gene & Judes since my parents first took me there in 1959. Things haven't changed ever since. Why change perfection? If you are looking for the classic Chicago garden on a bun, this isn't your place. But if you want excellent natural casing Vienna hot dogs on a stemmed Rosen's poppy seed bun with mustard, onions... Visiting the Chicago area for business, my co-workers said to be sure to go to Gene & Jude's. Not sure what I was in for, it turns out to be a hot dog stand but the "stand" part comes from the fact that people stand in long lines for these treats. If you also get fries, the dogs are heaped... More

I heard that this was the place the locals go for a good dog while at a bar the previous evening so I had to check it out. The history of this place is pretty fascinating to learn about. I really enjoyed my chicago dog. It set the motion for the rest of my day. This place is a standing... More

It has been eleven years since we last visited my home town of Chicago. One of the first things on my to-do list was a trip to Gene and Jude's. It was as I remembered it, for I was first introduced to G&J's back in 1971. A delicious Vienna hotdog, smothered with wonderfully greasy fries, sport peppers and mustard is... More
