This smallish cafe is located off the lobby of the Carleton Oak Park. I had a very good breakfast there. Service was fast, waitstaff was laid back, but in a good way. Portions were generous. Coffee was typical American (on the weak side). The menu was cute and there were many different types of breakfasts on offer: American, Continental, Tex/Mex.

Not creative, but certainly fresh. The restaurant was obviously getting on board with healthier fare with offerings of fresh broccoli, sweet potatoes both mashed and fried, and grilled fish tacos. It was certainly acceptable but nothing to write home about.

Used to be a favorite of mine, and up until a couple years ago would have rated a "5". Service can be spotty. Service used to be fantastic. I don't know what happened. Food is average, with some nice seafood options.

Staying at the Carleton, we stopped in and had breakfast. Food was better than anticipated and quite good. Eggs Benedict and the standard breakfast were tasty. Later in the day we enjoyed a plate of oysters on the half shell. They were fresh and tasty. Not a bad little local pub.

The one staff member at breakfast worked his tail off, but he sure could have used some help. The food was fine but the lack of waitstaff made for an unpleasant experience.

Eleven of us came here after an evening out. Parking was nearby. Aside from being very warm in there (September has been wonderfully cool but they hadn’t gotten the temperature right that night), it was a fun, high-energy place to hang for a few drinks and appetizers before calling it a night. The beer selection is amazing and they have... More

Six of us went for an evening out. Food and drinks were good and reasonable. I had the shrimp creole and it was very tasty. The size of our party dictated an automatic gratuity. We asked for the check to be split into thirds and even split the items by the couples for the server. This is something their system... More

This is a great little restaurant in every way. The style is casual. Inside it's a little Chicago sports temple. The decor is a real conversation starter, especially the ladies room. Their menu features a delish lobster roll, cajan dishes, excellent hamburgers, great french fries; in fact, there is something for everyone. There is a nice, spacious outdoor eating area... More

Every time we are in the Oak Park area we spend at least on evening at Poor Phil's. We enjoy the outdoor dining, the great and very moderate priced fish dishes (try the snow crab legs or the gumbo) and the great beer selection. Not to forget the always friendly service. We'll be back for a fifth time.

Great place if you truly love beer. My chowder and BLT on rye were good. What stands out however were the beers available. Just a bunch of draws and even more bottles. The choices made easier by Zach. Thanks for fine afternoon in an interesting neighborhood.
