Oh My!!

I live in the Midwest and good delis are hard to find. Found this on TA and made a point to stop for lunch, and of course some carry out to tote home! Had the Rueben for lunch. Very good. Couldn't get my mouth around it. Cole slaw very good. Fresh rolls of various types from their bakery on... read more

My wife and I visited Max & Benny's Restaurant in Northbrook, IL in February 2015. The facility itself is divided into a large dine-in restaurant across 2 rooms, and a deli on the other side. The staff is very friendly and attentive -- our waitress Janice was extremely nice and quick on the delivery of food and drinks. I had... More

My son and I visited Max and Bennys for Breakfast on the morning of Friday 16th January. With Coffee I ordered the Poached eggs on English Muffin with fruit and my son ordered the Past Reuben Sandwich and Fries. My breakfast was exactly what I wanted, my son's arrived and it was huge and with fries it was even more... More

Good value during the week if you select from the specials menu. Go for the potato pancake instead of hash browns as a side and the Pumpernickel bagel is highly recommended- or select from the dozen other types! Omelets are a flat type instead of blown up baked. Service is prompt.

At a time when many predict the demise of the traditional deli, the decline of Jewish fish dishes, and politicians display their (ahem) challenges when it comes to things that are Jewish (Gov. Scott Walker wished Jews "Molotov" for Chanuka in agreeing to display a menorah, perhaps a wish for an explosive holiday. And Merry Chutzpah to YEW!), it's wonderful... More

I had a great breakfast here - smoked salmon on a toasted onion bagel. Very traditional American food and all the better for it. Worth a visit if you are in the area and fancy something tasty. Decor is basic and old fashioned, service was friendly and efficient.

The clock is ticking on Jewish-style delis, and we all know it. The younger generation eats healthier (mostly) and quicker (No. 2 Value Meal, please) and more corporately (Chipotle in Chicago? Which at the moment has 1.2 zillion Mexican restaurants owned and operated by people who have actually lived in Mexico?). So even if there's nothing particularly imaginative in the... More

We travel to this area from out of town each Thanksgiving, and for years have gone to this Max and Benny's for Thanksgiving morning breakfast. It is great to see the hustle and bustle, and the wait staff that doen't hardly change from year to year. Excellent food--my favorite is the cinnamon swirl french toast! They also will serve deli... Who would expect a place like Max and Benny's to exist in a strip shopping center. A great Ruben sandwich with fries and good service. The baked goods in the display cases would not let you leave without taking a few back to the hotel for later enjoyment. Nice atmosphere and great service made for an experience that I would...
