High quality Italian food at a reasonable price. If you don't see anything on the menu, tell them what you have a taste for. They will try to accomodate you.Everything is fresh.Great pasta. One of my favorites is their Pollo Arosto. You can get fresh fish. Also the minestrone soup is outstanding.Everyone is very friendly. They have a good selection of wine, which is reasonably priced. The bread is... Met with a couple for a long awaited dinner. Have heard about Francesco's Hole in the Wall and decided our dinner was to be there. We had heard that they didn't take reservations, so we arrived early and had a drink while waiting for our friends who were traveling further to arrive. Now, I have read some complaints about the... Though there is plenty of parking, I must admit that I thought there would be a bigger dining area. If there is any negative to be said, it is only because of that and the tables are close to each other. If you are looking for a romantic place, this may not be the place to go. We were seated... My wife and I have enjoyed eating at The Hole in the Wall for years but as it has become more and more popular, the waiting time gets longer and longer. They will say about half an hour and it will be an hour and a half. Service is spotty and the food has become mediocre and overpriced.

Be prepared to wait in a cosy little reception - and I mean cosy!! It's worth it though. The tables are nearly on top of each other and you get close and personal with other diners, but this adds to the ambience of the experience. A great little spot with excellent food.

Dining at 5 PM on a Friday with a well-behaved child earned us clipped responses to our questions and brusk service. Clearly, the server wanted us out of there fast! She was not at all friendly or welcoming in any way. The food was excellent. $100 for entrees, drinks plus shared app, dessert and a half order of pasta for... More

We have not been to Hole in the Wall in several years; we did not like it before and nothing has changed. But, the small, attractive room was buzzing with happy diners.. its like so many things in like, its what you get used too. Service was fine, prices a couple dollar higher than some places, but the food we... More

Heck..maybe in The city of Chicago as well. If you are looking for a cozy little restaurant with great Italian food..this is it. A local gem. Want a menu..need to look upon the huge chalk board. Want a reservation..not happening. The restaurant is small, the tables for two are so close to the others, you feel you are having dinner... More

This place is so good but very small. Expect to wait 20 minutes for a table for 4. No reservations. Frank and his line chefs are excellent cooks of Italian fare. We started with Blue point oysters baked with spinach and garlic; cooked to perfection. We had a Francesco’s salad. Very good. Still not sure what the vinegar was but... More
