The Hole in the Wall is simply one of the best meals you can have in Chicagoland. I have not had better in town and only some of what I have had in Italy is better. We have been here many times over many years and it is consistently excellent food. The pastas are great, the seafood is always excellent,... More

We were at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and looked on TA for something close. Great option! We shared a beet salad, had rigatoni with sausage and arugula and spaghetti with shrimp and kale, 2 glasses wine and 1 beer - $80. We got there when it opened (5pm on Saturday) and got one of the last tables. Its small and... More

Very good food, very good, friendly place. We like it. We had a good pleasant dinner, and could recommend for dinner.

Hole in the Wall salad was great, as were the two pastas we tried. We brought 2 kids (5 and 3). Reviews don't mention this as a kid-friendly restaurant, but we were treated very nicely.

When I stopped for lunch, I had no idea what a lovely lunch it was to be. Great food, friendly ambiance. It is an Italian lover's dream. I will make this a regular stop.

Perhaps the expectations that we came in with were too high, but we were disappointed by our first (and quite possibly ONLY) visit to Francesco's this evening. The visit got off to a bad start when we were forced to wait 25 minutes for a table which we had already "reserved" in advance and had even called to confirm about... More

What an amazing evening my wife and I had! From the baked mozzarella to the delightful tomatoes, cucumber and blue cheese salad; it was fantastic. Our waitress Ellen was so helpful and non rushing. She let us enjoy our time together. When it came time to order, our questions were answered and well received. The entrees were superb! As a... More

We selected this restaurant based on comments found on TripAdvisor, and were very pleased with the results. We arrived early, and were greeted by the owner as we entered. The wait staff was very attentive, as was the owner. The food was excellent! The wine selection was sufficient. Dessert, though hardly needed, was too good to pass up. The place... More

Wanting excellent food, service and atmosphere for my world traveled out-of-town-friends, I chose Francesco's. White table cloths and the warm glow add to its lovely, enchanting ambiance. A place to romance, to chat, to sip red wine and linger. Francesco's is comfortable and inviting. How wonderful each guest is paid a visit by the owner and kindly attended to by... More

We had not been to Francesco's Hole in the Wall for years, but lucked out when we stopped by. It is such an unassuming place, but the food and service are fantastic Italian fare. Prices are moderate. Our server, Donna was knowledgable and friendly. The owner was there and after 35 years, he still is gracious and engaging. The calamari... More
