Unless someone told you or you grew up in the area you would miss out on a treat

On May 27 2015 I was visiting good friends in Glencoe IL. I visit them from home in Toronto for 2 reasons. #1 they are more like family #2 Chicken vesuvio. One day a restaurant in Toronto will make this dish and save me the 11 hour drive or the 1.5 hour Porter flight. But it is worth every second... read more

top notch Italian food with generous servings, happy staff, and the owner, Frank Gallo, constantly circulating.. If you don't mind tables too close to each other, you will be treated to excellent food and a convivial atmosphere.

The first time we tried to eat here, there was an hour wait. After looking at their website, we discovered that you can get food to go and that's what we did. The carry out menu is much more limited than if you actually eat there, but you get an idea of what their food is all about. We ordered... More

This place is tiny, and does get crowded. The tables are on top of each other, here The menu variety is substantial The food quality is good, solid Northern Italian. There is nothing to rave about here; don't make a special trip. If you're in the area, try it out, it is worth a visit, Just don't buy into the... More

Having grown up savoring the northern Italian cooking of my' " just off the boat," nana, I think I know how excellent Italian food tastes, and this isn't it. The marinara sauce, which is the hallmark of a good Italian restaurant, was a thin as tomato juice, and tasted like it too-completely lacking in dimension. The menu, written on a... More

Best italian in north shore, cozy atmosphere. If you've never been here you must try! We eat here once a week. We've been coming for 10 years now.

The first thing I noticed as we sat down was the plaque stating that the restaurant had been voted #1 among restaurants in Northbrook. It's no surprise. From the warm, toasty bread offered before the meal to the flavors within the main dishes, the food is truly the star of this restaurant, narrowly beating out the friendly service. And despite... I have had numerous business lunches at Prairie Grass, and while the noise level is a deterrent the service is uniformly great and the food is uniformly good (not amazing). We will continue to use this establishment for future lunches without hesitation.

This has to be the tiniest restaurant I have ever eaten in... The food was delicious, however the room is so small, that I felt cramped and uncomfortable... The prices on the menu were much more than what I was used to for an Italian place but then maybe I haven't been to enough of them to know... The least... More

Franceso's has become our "go to" Italian restaurant when we are in Evanston visiting our son at Northwestern. What a wonderful little restaurant! Hole in the wall is an apt description. The restaurant is only large enough to accommodate 40 diners or so. Despite the size of the restaurant, they move diners through without making them feel rushed. Love the... More
