Such a charming restaurant. Menu is written on blackboard in small dining room. We had 4 and were asked if we wanted to sit in the back. Table was beyond the kitchen, in the storage area. It was a fun experience...the owner chatted with us and gave his recommendations. Loved the pasta of the night with veal meatballs. Wine was... More

I've been in for dinner and lunch several times, but hadn't written a review before. The only thing I don't like about the Hole in The Wall is the wait to get in! This is a popular place that doesn't take reservations, so there is always a 20 to 30 minute wait for dinner. It's worth it though, I've never... More

I absolutely love this restaurant. My boyfriend took me here on a date and I couldn't stop raving about it. Granted, the tables were smushed together (a bit close for my taste), but once you start eating the food, it doesn't matter anymore. This place has great old-world charm and delicious food.

I am fortunate that I get to eat in some very good restaurants. Many are great experiences and I may go once or twice. The menu and cooking at the Hole in the Wall makes you want to come as often as you can. Last week the presentation of the raw oysters was very cool and they were fresh and... More

This have been my favorite restaurant in Northbrook for many years and have never been disappointed. My wife and I always start with the Hole in the Wall salad and love all the pasta dishes. The restaurant is very small and always busy. My advice is to go early or be prepared to have a glass of wine while you... More

The Hole in the Wall is simply one of the best meals you can have in Chicagoland. I have not had better in town and only some of what I have had in Italy is better. We have been here many times over many years and it is consistently excellent food. The pastas are great, the seafood is always excellent,... More

We were at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and looked on TA for something close. Great option! We shared a beet salad, had rigatoni with sausage and arugula and spaghetti with shrimp and kale, 2 glasses wine and 1 beer - $80. We got there when it opened (5pm on Saturday) and got one of the last tables. Its small and... More
