Illinois was recently named one of "11 Top BBQ Cities in America" by Thrillist, thanks to 17th Street. Mike Mills and his crew are proud to support and shine a spotlight on Southern Illinois, sharing the gospel of barbecue and their delicious food both in Southern Illinois and nationwide. At 17th Street, barbecue is a culture, not a concept. The restaurant is a community gathering place where guests become family. Rooted in history and family, their delicious barbecue smoked using local apple wood and their famous Magic Dust(R). Owner Mike Mills has devoted his life to the pits and is considered by his peers a true pioneer, legend, and leading force in the barbecue world.

Very Good BBQ To Go

I had to run to catch a plane, so I grabbed some food from 17th Street Barbecue for lunch. The food was very good (lean brisket sandwich, collard greens, mac and cheese, ribs, and caramel bread pudding), and I am sure it would have been even better if I had had the time to sit down and eat in... read more

Try the ribs, potato skins and fresh fried pork rinds! Not healthy, but omg great! President Clinton always sent for the ribs.

A decent BBQ place, but noone was particularly impressed. Probably one of the better options in the area, but considering the location, that doesn't say much!

17th Stret is a local staple and regular stand-by in Marion. Their menu is good on all fronts so you can't really go wrong. Their wings are a favorite of mine (ask them to leave them on the grill a bit longer for a crispier skin) especially when paired with a side of hushpuppies. On most occasions the wait times... More

I've always seen this place, heard good and bad, and couldn't wait to give it a shot. The service was good and the place was semi-full at around 7:30 0n a Monday. Now in my opinion someone has to really try to ruin bbq. On the contrary there are a few that excel at it. This place doesn't ruin it... More

Food was cold. Service poor. Don't know how they have won any awards. Don't waste your time or money.

We stay in Marion a few times each year and almost always eat one night here. Even though we are from Texas, we love their BBQ. Great atmosphere too!

I've never visited any dine in restaurant with as rude a server and management who wasn't empathetic to customers which are dissatisfied with the service and cold food. I think if I could deduct stars I would.

We have visited the 17th Street Bar & Grill for several years traveling from Minnesota to Florida. Love the place. However, this year, we looked at the Trip Advisor online menu and decided ahead of time what we should order. We decided on the 17th Street Sampler Platter. According to the online menu, we could choose from 4 appetizer selections.... More

Appreciate your kind words and thoughtful review. I am just now claiming ownership of this trip advisor page -- the previous information came from guests, not our management. This is my first visit to the page. So I have added the correct URL to the menu -- the one listed was at least five years old. I'm sorry you were... More

This is a barbecue place. Lots of choices if you like cooked or smoked meat. Ribs, pork shoulder, brisket ect. I heard someone talking about awards so maybe one of their locations competed in a cook off or something. I thought the food was good and a little better then a normal steakhouse. Prices were just a little higher as... More
