We stumbled in here very hungry on our route 66 trip. This place was recommended in our guide books and since it was across from the route 66 museum we said why not? It was a Sunday so we chose the all you can eat brunch. It was ok... kind of poor quality food at a high price! It was... More

I've been eating supper here since 1947...I'm so happy that 3 generations of the Adams family are still offering such excellent and varied menus. We always enjoy being there.

Had seen this restaurant when driving thru Litchfield in the past but never stopped. We were thru again today and looked on TripAdvisor for place to eat. Good reviews so we stopped. We were not disappointed. The food was great, service was the best we have anywhere for a long time. Oh, and the dessert tray was wonderful!! Very clean,... More

The Ariston is an old style Cafe that's very clean, and proper. It was like walking back into the 1950's with well dressed waiters and waitresses. Smiles greeted us at the door along with water at the table. The food was the best we had eaten from Chicago to Los Angeles. Will definitely return when in the area.

This restaurant was chosen as our dinner stop for the day on our Route 66 trip. Oh, my! It was a good choice. The sign might not give you a clue that a gourmet meal is near, but the cars in the parking lot should tell you something good is around. If you can get reservations before going, do so,... More

I have enjoyed every food item I have tried there. The stuffed shrimp is a very small portion, I think there were only 4 shrimp on the entree, but other than that the meals have been good. The Sunday brunch buffet is good but I think it's a little pricey for the area. They have some good desserts, but don't... More

The Ariston has a more varied menu than those from out of town might expect. I have enjoyed every meal that I have had there, (sandwiches, salads, salmon, filet mignon, pork chops, chicken) Select an appropriate drink from their various wines and imported beers. They have an optional soup and salad bar as well as a variety of desserts, which... More

My husband and I stumbled across the Ariston Cafe on a Route 66 trip five years ago and we fell in love with the warm family atmosphere and amazing food. We have routed subsequent road trips accordingly so we can stop for dinner here again and again. We have never been disappointed in the food or the service. I hope... More

We live near the Ariston Café. Whenever we have family visit, we always take them to the Ariston. This has the best food I have ever eaten. Love the history of this café and it is family owned - and if you go, you will see the father or son working there. High recommendations for the one and only Ariston... More

Litchfield, Illinois is home to the Ariston Café, the oldest continuously operated restaurant on Route 66. The Ariston got its start in 1924 when Pete Adam, a Greek immigrant, opened his restaurant in Carlinville, Illinois. The original cafe was located on Route 4, the predecessor of Historic Route 66. Route 66 has had many “alignments” over the years. When new... More
