Once known as Chef Paul's, Bavarian Lodge has grown from the tiny dining room at Iroquois Shopping Center to the massive free-standing place it is now. The food has changed some over the years, but the portions are still ample. We enjoyed a Saturday night dinner recently, but the wait was over an hour. We walked up the side street... More

Let me preface this by saying I am no expert on food, a gourmand, a foodie or whatever you call it. I will say that I have spent about eight years of my adult life living in Germany. The menu is representative of the German food you find in a German Gasthaus. This is German comfort food every German grandmother... More

I lived in Lisle for twenty years and watched the growth and progress of this restaurant in the community. This is quintessential German dining at its finest! There is nothing else to say. Each dish has been brought to culinary perfection...but if "Heidi's Cottage" is not your idea of fine dining... Then seek your dinner elsewhere. As for me.... When... More

This restaurant is pretty amazing. Good food, good service, good beer and good atmosphere is what you get coming here. The food and decor is like being at your grandmother's house. If you come here only one time, do yourself a favor and go the schnitzel route. So good. Be warned if you come on a Friday or Saturday night... More

I've eaten here several times over the past three years. Every time I go here, I have enjoyed the quality of the restaurant. The good food and good portions, the great waitstaff, the fun atmosphere. Is place is always packed with people so plan ahead if you go here. Luckily it is much bigger inside than you would think when... More

I don't know how anyone could rate this place less than a 4 or 5. I came here for dinner and specialty beers and wasn't remotely disappointed. The food was excellent—even the liver!—the service was great, and the selection of import and local craft beer was phenomenal. I don't know when I'll be back in town but I will absolutely... More

The German food here is simply outstanding. The kitchen uses a reverse osmosis system to purify all the water and this keeps the freshness of the food at a peak. And what food it is. I love the liver dumpling soup (and often take home a container) and the spatzle. The knockwurst is outstanding, not too heavily fried as in... More

Went with friends and my wife and I were hugely disappointed in the food. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel Cordon Bleu and it was burned on the bottom and a very small portion. Bland tasting, also. My wife and her friend had the Beef Stroganoff and they commented that the portion was small and the spatzle were nondescript. The waitress... More

Went with a group of 7 and sat in the very back of the restaurant. I think maybe that had some impact on the mediocre service we received. Drink refills were infrequent or even nonexistent in some cases. No dirty dishes were removed from the table during the whole meal. I had the cheese soup, which I thought was ok,... More

I’ve been here 5 times now, tried something different every time and have never been disappointed. The food here is the most authentic I’ve had outside Munich and Bavaria. What makes this place a 5 star for me is not just the food but the incredible beer list. If you are a craft beer snob like me then you’ve just... More
