If you want to travel back to a midcentury supper club, this is the place. Well made traditional midwestern food with excellent cocktails. This place gets packed, so reserve ahead. Huge salads, well prepared and good quality meats and fish.

From the outside with the log cabin facade to the inside with the many pictures of famous people on the walls, L Woods reminds you of a typical Wisconsin lodge restaurant. The service was excellent and the fish special on Friday night was very good and there was plenty of food. The ribs are also a signature dish here and... More

We have had mixed experience recently with L Woods, but this most recent visit was excellent. Friendly service, more attentive than previously, very good steaks and fish. I think maybe it pays to come a little early (we ate at 6:30) before they're packed to the rafters. The only problematic note is that one of the dinners arrived more than... More

We've dined at L Woods on multiple occasions, both for dinner with friends and at lunch with family. Great steak, chop, and ribs but not at the high Chicago chop house prices.

We were welcomed by a friendly server, who periodically would "touch the table" and see how we were doing. I had a delicious white fish which was prepared simply but very tasty. My husband enjoyed the ribs. Because this was our first visit to the restaurant they presented us with a special thin crust pizza appetizer for our table which... More

Lincolnwood has so few restaurants. L Woods is always busy. Their fried chicken is one of the best meals they offer, though it is a weekly special. My biggest issue with this restaurant is their insistence in serving iceberg lettuce salads.

It's obvious, from the moment you enter this place, until you leave, that they are watching every penny, and squeezing you for all the $$ they can get out of you. For example, for $22.95, you get three SMALL pieces of perch and tons of French fries, with a TINY dish of cole slaw in their Friday nite "fish fry"..... More

The food is good but not great. The service is adequate. The atmosphere is dark and crowded. The guests are mostly in one age bracket. The highlight of the meal was dessert. The Apple Strudel has to be ordered at the time of ordering the meal so that it is ready for dessert. It was really good and honestly the... More

One of the Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants (Rich Melman/ Jerry Orzoff) it's nice to have in the far Northwest Side of Chicago. Food is 8/10 and service is great. We order from their carry out all the time, love their BBQ and roasted chicken, and they're also known for their Ribs which are excellent. I don't drink but it seems... More

I was in charge of organizing a dinner outing for an organization I am a member of. A couple of us recommended this place. We went on a Wednesday night with a party of 14 and the restaurant was crowded. The décor looks like a Northwoods supper club establishment with the menu similar to what you would find there as...
