Nice beer and food was fine

Popped in for a quick pint and bar snack with the kids after visiting the nearby falls - decent pub plenty of choice of ales and other drinks if that's not your thing - food was fine and priced about the same as all the tourist traps in the Lakes! We visited twice recently and were impressed by the friendly staff and tasty food. The bar is part of the Skelwith Bridge Hotel which after a quick look around looked very pleasant and prices seemed very reasonable. Bar prices were reasonable for this area and we would happily return.

We had dinner here on three nights whilst staying in a local B&B. The menu has a good range of pub food supplemented by daily specials. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and friendly - especially so to the many dogs present. Thoroughly recommended.

We recently stayed in holiday accommodation across the road from this pub and enjoyed several excellent meals there. They don't just 'allow' dogs in, they actively encourage them, with their own section on the menu.

Visited here with my girlfriend back in the Winter. It was a bit wild and snowy on the top of Loughrigg and we had our 2 little dogs (chihuahuas) that weren't particularly well equipped for the snowy peaks. A quick trip back down to Terra firma and with 2 shivering dogs in tow we attempted the horror show that is... More

Dropped in recently whilst on holiday for a meal as we did last year and had excellent meal. Staff friendly, good selection of real ales and our dog was welcome too. Keep up the good work!

I was amazed find that the Talbot was not only open all day but catered for everyone including a Childrens Menu and a Menu for Four legged friends. Great Service and good food.

Dropped in for lunch during a long walk with our dog. The Talbot Bar is spacious and comfortable, very relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful, a water bowl being provided for our dog, he was offered a biscuit and it was clear they welcome dogs instead of just putting up with them. Our food and drinks were very good and... More

The staff truly make this a memorable visit. Very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, the steak in ale pie is highly recommended.

I completely agree with previous reviewers. The pub is a traditional warm pleasant olde English pub with pretty decent bar meals at lunchtime ,my wife and I had separate dishes and both were very good. Whilst the service was ok and certainly no complaints it was at best cordial, rather than friendly. The pub is 'dog friendly' and 'walker friendly'.... More
