Went on a Sunday evening in November. It has been several years since we've been to Louie's as we are not locals. They did not disappoint. In our party of 7 we got the catfish fried, cajun, grilled, and as fritters. The portions are generous and everyone was pleased with the quality. The service was prompt and pleasant. The place... We took a beautiful family day trip across the Golden Eagle Ferry and drove to Kampsville just to enjoy a great meal at Louie's Kampsville Inn. I have never had Catfish taste this great. Three of us ordered the Catfish Fritter meals and the portions where huge. We should have shared. One member of the party ordered fried chicken strips... More

After driving from Alton up to Grafton and along the Great River Road, we took the ferry over to Brussels and then drove on into Kampsville. Very special place for me since my mother and many of my relatives from her side lived in that area. We decided to go the Louie's. It was somewhat crowded, but the food was... More

My family has been going here for years but this was my first trip. A small river town makes the Kampsville Inn the place to go, some of the best Midwestern catfish around so stop in for a beer and some fish. Be sure to ask how the floods have affected this location over the years.

This place had the best fried catfish I've ever had in my life. The corn fritters and chicken livers were the best ever. The atmosphere was very casual and it was right on the river where the ferry takes you across to the other side. It doesn't get any better than this.

I had not been to the Kampsville Inn in years and decided to stop Friday (Nov. 23) around 11 a.m. on the way home to the Metro East from a Thanksgiving visit. I'll not be back until the management changes. I ordered the scored buffalo filet. It was OK except for an off-taste that I attributed to overused cooking oil.... More

The food was the best I've had in along time. The fish is amazing , but they also have a marinated ribeye that's to die for. Go, stop, eat and watch the barge's pass by. I will be back for sure!

This place has great food every time! We go here almost every other week and its always super yummy with healthy qty plates! There is a little play ground outside and you can sit and watch the car ferry take people across the river. You can never go wrong eating here....but a FYI is they do not take credit cards!!!

This is an older reataurant. Lots of seating with a bar on one end. You can see the river out the windows. Food portions are large. We had fish. Took half of it home.
