Nice atmosphere; a bit overpriced

Lovely atmosphere, and very good food. It's a bit overpriced, in my opinion, for the quality of the food. But I would still eat here on a special occasion. Plus, it's close to home for us.

The Chef is originally from Italy and the food shows his strong roots as well as great european & American influences. Staff was on point--the decor is delightful, reminiscent of the best North End and NYC ristorante(s). Everything on the menu has been excellent--fresh, house made and fairly priced for the generous portions. There is a small but good wine... More

You know how difficult it can be to find cannelloni - and good cannelloni is even harder to find. This restaurant has the BEST chicken and mushroom cannelloni I have ever eaten. But I was even happier when I ate their homemade spumoni - HEAVEN!

We were in Joliet to attend a stand up comedy event and explained the waitress that we don't have much time, she replied "no problem' & we got quick , good service with a round of drinks and the food came in pretty fast, tasty, well satisfied.

Barolo ristorante has been a favorite of ours for years. It's about a half hour from our house, so we don't get there often, but we always look forward to it when we do go, and we're never disappointed with our choice. I almost always get the Tortellacci Rosa (homemade cheese tortellacci with prosciutto, mushrooms, and sweet peas in a... More

Chef Guy makes interesting and innovative dishes using fresh and often local supplies. The daily specials are great with tasty side dishes. There is a Monday thru Friday from 4-6 dining option which includes entree, glass of wine and dessert for $18.95. If you are looking for standard spaghetti and meatball Italian restaurant fare, this is not the place to... More

We were looking for a new place to find, and this one got the nod. When you walk in (okay, it's in a strip center, but this isn't a converted Radio Shack), we were surprised with how nice it was. Put it this way, we probably wouldn't have tried it just by driving by because of the location. Once you... More

I visited Barolo tonight for a date night with my husband This was my first experience at Barolo. It's a quaint restaurant, seemed like a nice place for a date. We sat down and waited quite a bit of time for our server, Donna. She finally arrived and asked us if we wanted drinks and then disappeared again for another... More

I have given this restaurant 4 chances to be okay, and it let me down each time. I like to support local places, but just couldn't do it for this one. The food is not good, especially for the prices they ask.

My girlfriend and I had been to Barolo a few times. This past weekend we celebrated a friend's birthday there. The meal was very good; I had a lamb shank special that melted in my mouth, and the ladies each had a fish entree. The fish was fresh. The atmosphere is classy-cozy, but dress is casual. I have to say... More
