Great Local Deli

Max's is a great deli in the burbs north of Chicago. Very popular and always busy. Stop in for a bite or for take out. There are many items to choose from as well as many deserts. If you order a sandwich, I suggest a half as the sandwiches are large and loaded with meat. But it's only a... read more

I take my reviewing very seriously, and I never write a review based on one item. Until today. This afternoon I ordered something that I order everywhere and that I would've thought would be impossible to mess up, Nevertheless, Max's managed to charge me $4.50 for a fruit cup that consisted of one tiny grape, a piece of a strawberry,... I have been there many times, the food is generally good, however the people that work there are very rude both in person and on the phone. I am planning to go there on friday, and looked online to read their menu as I am ordering for several people. Several items that i want to order the prices were not... More

Visited this Deli on 08/23/15. Staff – not good organized & trained. Food - so-so. Price – overpriced. Recommendations – no.

One of the few remaining Jewish Delis along with Max and Bennys. Typical delifare. Good salads. Great brisket sandwich. Big enough that 1/2 sandwich is more than enough. Pickles on the table.

I have been to Maxs several times. I think the breakfasts are better value than the lunch and dinner, although they often have specials.

Although one family member enjoyed his reuben, I am giving only a poor review because two of us were so disappointed with two major specialties which I rely on, since I do not eat meat. The cheese blintzes were so sweet I practically got a headache and the cinnamon/nutmeg were too strong. The dough, however, was nice. The gefilte fish... More

Very cute deli located in highland park. They have everything from bagels, meats and sweets! Employees are polite and courteous. Patrons are also friendly and great to talk to.

The attitude of the owner is the sorest I have ever experienced. I requested a cookie label in a case, he reached for a different one and then proceeded to tell me to stop talking. As I expressed my surprise at his words the berated and insulted me. I told him he had lost a customer and he reposnded good... More

Terrific deli. The real deal. Love the fact that breakfast is served at all hours. The take out counter looked fabulous too.
