Haven't been there for 40 years since I left the Chicago area. What a wonderful treat to come back & find the same great foods. Don't miss the onion rings - they're unique & delicious.

We went for dinner on Saturday night, and were told the wait would be 15 minutes for our 6 person group. An hour later, we were finally seated, as they don't take reservations into account when they guess the wait times. Service once at the table was good, and the food was delicious- especially the pretzel burger. Also had the... More

Been to Hackney's on Lake (and the Original Hackney's on Harms) a zillion times over the past 30 years, and it's always a valid dining suggestion. Though I prefer the small Harms restaurant personally, the big Lake St restaurant has more room and offers more indoor seating that is possible int he old place. I think the corned beef was... More

We don't get it. Came here because we had a coupon for $10 off. The house wine was awful, we asked for a burger rare and no fries, and got a well done burger with fries.served on cold bread with blue cheese that wasn't melted.it seems that people go there just for the deep fried onions. The waiter could care... More

I had dinner at Hackney's for a 50th class reunion. I remember eating there in the 1960's and it's still going strong. I highly recommend newcomers to try the "Hackney Burger" along with their well known house standard: "fried onion rings".

Recently attending a family birthday party in one of their party rooms. I have to say the waut staff was over the top helpful. From serving to clearing , refilling drinks and even taking special orders and running to get them. And all with a smile. The food is about what you'd expect from an upscale burger place, nothing wowed,... More

Hackney's is one of my family's favorite burger places. Nothing fancy, but always a treat! We sit outside when the weather permits. Service is attentive and you're never rushed. A very popular place, especially on weekends when the weather is ideal. A must try is the onion loaf which is a signature appetizer at Hackney's. You'll get a great burger... More

Good Patty Melts. The restaurant is known for its burgers but especially for its onion rings. This restaurant has never disappointed. I also like there chili. My brother-in-law always raved about their ribs.

I haven't been to Chicago in 35 years and I had to go back to Hackney's because I had always loved it. Nothing has changed! Same fabulous burgers on the same home made dark rye bread and the best onion rings literally anywhere! Also had their home made apple pie with cinnamon ice cream which was delicious! Go out of... I have been going to Hackney's ever since my folks took me to Hackney's on Harms as a kid in the 1950's. And, over the past 50 years, they have provided consistently good food at a reasonable price in an enjoyable casual atmosphere. Both my wife and I had buffalo burgers on dark rye. These lean patties are fabulous. The... More
