We met some old friends for dinner at the Lake Street on a Saturday night. The place was crowded with families and other groups. Plus, there was a large party downstairs. Despite the mass of people our group of 8 received excellent service. The burgers and onion rings are as good as advertised, and the prices were reasonable. The kids... More

After seeing advertisements for their famous "Hackneyburger", we decided to try out the Harms Road location. What an incredible disappointment. The burgers were not handcrafted--rather, they looked like perfectly round frozen patties and tasted incredibly bland. Our server, after taking our order, disappeared for 40 minutes. Other servers came to take orders, serve our food. When I had to go... More

We stopped on on a Friday evening on the way back from the airport. We just came from Ireland and thought we were back there with the hospitality. The prime rib sandwich was great, generous helping and done just right. The others had excellent burgers. Service was very good. Overall a great experience after a long trip.

Stopped by on the suggestion of friends during the Sunday noon crowd. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out that the hamburgers were half price when the Bears are playing, luckily for us they were playing the Packers! I was part of a group of 14 and they took care of us right away. I was impressed when they... More

This is the original Hackney's outlet, that we have visited over the past 30 years. It remains very good after all this time. The menu is updated frequently to encompass seasonal specialties. This fall, the theme is Oktoberfest. My wife and I both had buffalo burgers. They are expensive; but, very lean and tasty. Recently, Hackney's has added dark rye... More

I often ate at Hackneys back in the 60's and 70's when I worked in the area. Visiting for a family wedding, we decided to go to Hackney's on Harms for lunch. The Hackneyburger is as great as always. Service was excellent, and the country feel of the location was the topper to the experience. Hope to be back some... More

My dad grew up in the area and has searched high and low for onion rings that could match Hackney's shoestring fries. Burgers are deep fried and traditionally served on rye. I had a Reuben... It was pretty awesome. Building is old and not much has changed since the 70's except the addition of TV's. Overall, it was an experience... More

I have been to Hackney's locations throughout the Chicago area, but the original (on Harms) is still the one that best speaks of the long-standing tradition that the family has provided for decades. The Hackney Burger, medium on dark rye, with Swiss is the best burger around. Order the onion loaf crumbled and you'll never forget it.

My neighbors and I ate dinner at the Hackney's on Harms Road @ 5 PM on a Sunday night, Labor Day weekend. I had never been, but they said it's Wonderful ! I was hesititant when they said it's outdoors, YES, 80% for the humidity and the temperature in the mid 80's. The patio, though tight quarters had wonderful breezes,... More

This restaurant is a family owned operation in a large, classic home. It is a local landmark and everyone knows it. Everything from the drinks to the appetizers to the food is fantastic. I would strongly recommend the Onion Brick appetizer, it is not on the healthy menu, but the taste is amazing. Burgers are the house specialty, served on... More
