Early in June we were ending an eastern vacation and were about to take Amtrak's Empire Builder train west from Glenview. We arrive at the station shortly after noon but the train wasn't arriving until after 2:30. We took the opportunity for a leisurely lunch. Grandpa's is across the street from the station. There was a sign indicating some renovations... More

We have heard about this place forever so we stopped in on a Sunday eve over Memorial Day weekend. To our surprise - it was pretty dead for a legendary place. The two of us made 8. That made good service easy - but the choice was difficult when we reviewed the wine list. The craft beer selection is OK... More

I commute on the train quite often & the glenview station is right across the street from Grandpas. Every time I pass it always looks like a fun place to stop. Happened to be going downtown on a Saturday & jumped off the train for lunch. Sorry I waited so long to go. Guiness was ice cold, & I had... More

We don't get to Grandpa's very often, but it's nice to know it's in the neighborhood. Good food and relaxing atmosphere.

The food was just okay even though it is considered a landmark in Glenview. It was nice eating outdoors, but nothing seemed special to me.

The atmosphere at Grandpa's in Glenview Il is just what their website states. The service is excellent. We visited the establishment to have a drink before we got on Amtrak. They were having a "Chili" cook off and everyone was enjoying the time. We will return again and again.

I have been going in this place for over 8 years. It used to be a neighborhood bar with good food. The atmosphere was casual, easy and the prices reasonable. Then they remodeled. Now a pint or bottle of beer is way overpriced and the place is uppity and stuck up. I liked the old neighborhood bar far better. And... More

Grandpa’s is a relative institution in Glenview dating back to 1891. The building is historic yet has been cleaned, unlike a few other local pub and grubs! A recent remodel provides a great dining area adjacent to the original bar. This place is mostly dining area with a bar rather than a bar with some dining…if you get my drift.... More
